Hey all, Oli here 🖤 it’s been a minute since I’ve posted. There has been so many changes in our lives + creative direction over the years. For those of you who followed us during the MNSTR Gallery days, we appreciate YOU so much. Our time as a physical space in ‘Vancouver’ gave us a chance to share + create art with an unforgettable community of creatives and friends. We’ve embraced a new path evolving into MNSTR Creative. While we’ve been operating this way since 2020, only now am I announcing it here. A studio for art, design, art direction, artist marketing + photography, carrying forward the same creative energy into new projects for ourselves and for others.

Life’s twists, including the pandemic and countless personal changes have kept us busy. But here we are, grateful for the journey and for each of you who supported us along the way. We hope you'll continue to follow along as we take MNSTR Creative to new places. And if it’s time for you to move on, know that we only wish you the best on your own creative journey.

About the project:
is a photography & illustration collaborative project between Photographer, OSG & a curated group of Vancouver based + Singapore based visual artists of different creative styles. The project aim is to showcase both the artistic style of each individual and their portraits in one image. Each artist is limited to using a monochromatic colour, and by using their own portraits as a canvas, we will get an insight into the personalities behind the artwork. The original series started in 2014 in collaboration with 12 Singapore based Artists encouraging each of them to express their visuals freely on their canvases and by hand. In 2018, 15 Vancouver based Artists with diverse artistic backgrounds collaborated for the latest installment of the series.

This project aims to experiment with and expand on the traditional ideas of portraiture. To bridge the gaps between different creative fields through collaboration, and to encourage social interactions between creatives. "It’s challenging to push the boundaries of portraiture, intimacy and honesty are elements that I always strive for. By engaging artists to interactively collaborate through an analogue medium on their own portraits, I hope to expand the relationship between the viewer and the subject by giving insight into their creative psyche. Planned to be an ongoing global project with different artists and in different cities." - OSG (Photographer + Curator ).

Hey Errrbody, its been a minute! We've taken some time off since June to settle into our new chapter as parents, it's been soooo life changing and we are loving it. In the last 14 months our lives have been busy with our family growing + 2, our pug puppy and a lil' mnstr in the mix while running the gallery and working on creative projects (phew). We are so grateful that we have met so many wonderful folks thru this platform and hope to continue to do so. Our space won't be in the gallery mode anytime soon but we will be still working on art, collaborations and holding exhibits around Vancouver. Hit us up to say Hi to connect/reconnect. Much love to you all from us ! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 @ Vancouver, British Columbia

The MNSTR Story...

MNSTR Creative Studio + Art Gallery run by MR/MRS MNSTR. Located in the Mount Pleasant area in Vancouver BC. We are an Artist Run Initiative.

MNSTR Gallery is a shared idea, an artist driven collaboration, and most importantly MNSTR is how we think art should be produced and shared. MR/MRS MNSTR, aka Ben and Oli, are the creative duo behind MNSTR (pronounced Monster). Photography, Animation, Graphic Design, Screen printing, VFX, Marketing and Curation. MNSTR Gallery is the creative sum of us, a multi functioning artistic space accommodating production and exhibition of local + international artists, collaborative, group and individual productions. Situated in a Mezzanine loft located in Mount Pleasant, our home is divided in half with the front of the space as our creative studio and the rest for living.

These years of experience as creative professionals have helped shape the way we see art, its moulded our opinion of how art and making art can and should be enjoyed. We believe good art can be accessible and affordable, we appreciate new artists who bring their own understanding of culture and dedication to craftsmanship and who need an avenue to share their work. Collectively having lived and worked in Jakarta, Kansas, Auckland, Sydney, and Singapore now bring their enthusiasm & knowledge to Vancouver BC.

What's behind the name? This is our little monster that we have created together, our biggest collaborative project to date. ‘Gallery’ is an interpretation on how we want to share our work. We look forward to sharing our kind of aesthetic here in this city.
