Meet the UBC Distinguished Visiting Artist Cao Minghao

We are pleased to host a reception for artist, Cao Minghao, at Canton-sardine in Chinatown. Cao Minghao (she/her) is an artist and transdisciplinary researcher who collaborates with her partner, Chen Jianjun, in Chengdu, China. Their projects have been widely presented in top-level art events and institutions, including Documenta 15 (Kassel, Germany 2022), the 13th Shanghai Biennale (Shanghai, China 2021-22), and the Centre Pompidou (Paris, France 2019). They were recipients of the 2022 Jonathan KS Choi Foundation Contemporary Art Award and the Cité Internationale des Arts de Paris in 2020.

Cao Minghao is currently visiting Vancouver and the University of British Columbia from November 16th to 30th, invited by the Department of Art History, Visual Art & Theory (AHVA) as part of their Distinguished Visiting Artist series. Her artist talk will be held at UBC on Wednesday, November 29th, co-organized by Green College and AHVA, with support from the Departments of Geography and Asian Studies, and the UBC Centre for Chinese Research.
