Kathleen left a significant and lasting impression on all of us. Her words, commitments, encouragement, laughter, seriousness, guidance, and so much more will be deeply missed.

In 2017, I submitted my script, Soldierland, to PTC. Shortly thereafter, I received an email from Kathleen that read, "Soldierland introduced us on paper to an accomplished artist we have never met. This is powerful work." After our first meeting, we became friends, and she was always supportive and loyal to me and the Sky Theatre Group.

Despite her health challenges, Kathleen's final project was serving as the dramaturg for my play, A Smoke Behind the Rope, which was staged in July and September 2024. Additionally, she has provided invaluable assistance to the Sky Theatre Group with our productions since 2017.

We will always cherish Kathleen's friendship and support, and her memory will live on forever.

Having lived a chunk of my life in the Middle East, watching Rzgar Hama’s "A Smoke Behind the Rope" felt like a gut-wrenching homecoming. It wasn’t merely a play; it was a raw nerve exposed. The performance, with its brutal honesty, pulled me into a world I knew all too well, a place where shadows are long and hope is a fragile ember. To critique such a piece feels almost like betraying a shared silence.
