The Arts Factory is a mixed-use arts facility located in a transformed warehouse at 281 Industrial Avenue. This cultural hub includes 21,000 square feet of workshops, studios, offices and common spaces. A unique partnership with the City of Vancouver allows us to offer affordable spaces to the local arts community. The Arts Factory houses a mix of emerging and established artists, as well as arts

organizations and professionals in the cultural sector. Our studio spaces are primarily geared to serve professional artists working with industrial-based fabrication process, such as sculptures, painting, fabric, wood, and ceramics. The community of artists at 281 Industrial is committed to fostering innovation, learning exchanges, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Our vision is that the building will function as an incubator for artists and their practice, while enabling connections between artists, neighbourhoods and institutions. The Arts Factory is managed by The Arts Factory Society, a non-profit society.

Join us for the 25th annual Eastside Culture Crawl

NOVEMBER 18-21, 2021. Thurs / Fri 5-10pm, Sat / Sun 11am-6pm

Each November—for 25 years and counting—the Eastside Arts Society [EAS] has produced the Eastside Culture Crawl Visual Arts, Design & Craft Festival, in which artists in Vancouver’s Eastside open their studios to the public. The event is focused on the area bounded by Columbia St., 2nd Ave., Victoria Dr., and the Waterfront, and involves painters, jewellers, sculptors, furniture makers, weavers, potters, printmakers, photographers, glassblowers— ranging from emerging artists to those internationally established.

Arts Factory is thrilled to be back this season with 13 of our resident artists participating in the crawl this year.

Collaboration between Megan Majewski and Sharon Roberts on now.

As humans, we have a complicated but necessary relationship with the forests that surround us but how we manage that relationship isn’t always straightforward. With the increase in frequency of large, uncontrollable, interface fires, addressing how to manage this relationship is at the forefront o...

We are welcoming limited in-person visitors for the Eastside Culture Crawl this year and doing things a little differently. While individual studios are not open, some of our artists have instead set up in our Hallway Gallery space and you can make an appointment to come down and meet the artists, check out some art, buy some gifts for those special folks on your gift-giving list (or yourself!) and support local artists during these challenging times. We have strict safety measures in place so you can visit us with confidence.

Great piece on Arts Factory artist Sára Molčan Studio. She has so much cool stuff happening during the Eastside Culture Crawl this year so be sure to check her out: https://culturecrawl.ca/artist/6092

For artist Sára Molčan , painting selfies doesn't always mean she's painting herself, or at least, not exactly, herself. “My painted self is me but not really me. There’s a strange disconnect for people — they really want to believe I’m painting myself,” she says. Instead, Molčan’s oi...

We are open for the Eastside Culture Crawl at the Arts Factory, safely and with great care. Need Christmas gifts? Need a little pick-me-up? Head on down to 281 Industrial Ave. (with your mask! But we have extras if you forget) and support local artists. The Crawl is normally a time when some of our artists make a good chunk of their yearly income and that’s definitely been hampered by Covid so purchasing from them is a win-win!
