Camino y Despedida Workshop with in Smithers BC
“In intimate spaces we discover how similar we are... how we carry emotions interwoven between the present, the past, and the future. We discover that stories live within the interdisciplinary nature of being human. That circles of reflection, through movement and creativity, allow us to see, feel, and listen to what the rush of life does not permit.”
This was the first time we shared a workshop specifically centered on Migration and Hope , sharing not only the process of Camino y Despedida, but also reflecting on personal and collective stories, sometimes through words and sometimes through presence, body, and poetic gesture. The subconscious moving between and through us. The synergies and coincidences, the paths that cross, destinies that were meant to meet in this lifetime to reveal something to us, to plant a word, a seed, a perspective deep within our being. A being that will continue to develop through the relationships with which we cohabit.
Thank you for allowing us to learn mutually from our stories... this world in transition, our skins that change like our ways of thinking and seeing life, our suitcases and what we carry both literally and metaphorically. First, second, third generations of migrants… intergenerational, collective, a mestizaje of thought. Birds flying across the skies, humans in airplanes, privileges mixed and nuanced: nothing in this life is flat.
We need to expand the circles of conversation to continue developing our capacity to see the layers, and to live from that social interweaving of which we are a part, and upon which we have an impact through the way we share ourselves in the world.
Thank youuu for your presence, your vulnerability, and for the coincidence of meeting. I hope our paths continue crossing and that the reciprocal seeds we have planted bear fruit.”
