From today's Tower Of Babel gathering!!
We welcomed a performer of Cantonese, translated together :)
Then we all practiced to read - line by line, then all together!

Our 2nd group translation session / meeting for Tower of Babel will be on next week Tuesday! June 18th, Tue, at Kafka's Coffee and Tea /2525 Main St, at 5pm!!

Anybody can join us, especially if you can bring your friend who's interested in our event!! We will be there for about one to two hours, doing translation work :) This time Russian performer is confirmed to come!! :D

We are so pleased to announce that talented Duston Baranow-Watts is now joining us as our stage manager!! :D

He will be supervising our performance on July 14 (1st rehearsal) and July 20 (the 2nd rehearsal, and the event) :)

☆Rehearsal date is set~!☆

1st rehearsal on July 14, 1pm-3pm at Vancouver Art Gallery (if the area is packed, then we may be moving to Robson square stair cases area..) .

We plan to do 2nd(and last) rehearsal on the event day, July 20.

Please join us~!!! ”Tower of Babel" - FREE PUBLIC EVENT on July 20 Sat. afternoon! See below for details;

We need performers who will translates a simple English poem by Sora into your own native language!! You will enjoy gathering with us for group translation sessions, as well as performing with other people who have different nationalities but sharing this beautiful Vancouver 💛

Here’s our team now, we are looking for the language other than the list below! Our goal is to gather 30 different languages!! Please share this to whoever maybe interested to join us!

13:00 - 15:30: performance (15mins performance, mingle /rest for 45mins. 3 performances (at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm).
You can leave anytime after the 3rd performance, but we secure the space till 16:00 if you want to mingle :))

Hello.
I’m Katie, one of menders of organizing Tower of Babel.
Tower of Babel is an outdoor public poetry reading involving over 30 participants and 30 languages to celebrate the cultural diversity of Vancouver.
Do you speak a language other than English? Are you a new immigrant to Vancouver? Seeking participants for an outdoor public performance involving 30 different languages! Involves translating a brief 100 word passage, one rehearsal, and one performance on July 20th (Sat), 2019. The performance will be free to the public, we are looking for translators who perform as well willing to participate on a volunteer basis. You don't need to be a professional translator, nor a professional performers. Meet new friends, while you represent your country and celebrate the diversity of Vancouver!
