We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of bass Harry van der Kamp, a long-time collaborator and friend of many Early Music Vancouver musicians and guests. I'm sharing a recording of Harry singing Landi's "Superbe colli" with Tragicomedia, a fabulous performance and a great lesson in how to sing this repertoire. He will be hugely missed but his recordings will continue to inspire and teach us for years to come.

A unique highlight from the Summer Festival: Len Torrie sings Joni Mitchell’s yearning classic “Blue,” with a reimagined theorbo accompaniment performed by Lucas Harris.

Harris programmed this contemporary masterpiece alongside John Dowland’s Lachrimæ, or Seaven Teares, inspired by the way both works speak to “music’s therapeutic power over our emotions, as listeners or performers.”

We are thrilled to announce that balcony seats are now available at the Chan Centre for Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.

Get a bird's eye view of the Pacific Baroque Orchestra and the "Queen of Baroque Violin" Rachel Podger as they present this period-accurate performance of Vivaldi's beloved classic, alongside arias by Vivaldi sung by Myriam Leblanc, Len Torrie, and EMV Artist-In-Residence Marc Mauillon.

We had a night of mythic proportions at the first performance of Monteverdi's Orfeo last night! Thank you to everyone who attended. We have one more performance tomorrow at 2:30pm, we hope to see you there.

A preview of the projection design for EMV's production of Orfeo, created by Camilla Tassi (). These initial visual concepts offer a glimpse into the design world of the production.

Drawing on Renaissance and Baroque art - including photographs from Tassi's own journey to Mantua, where Orfeo premiered in 1607 - the projections connect the opera's historic origins with a contemporary visual language.
