The study of music provides the foremost joy - whether that is joy in just the music or the joy of accomplishment. Music, as one would agree, is a language and being able to share this language of our minds is one of the fundamental principles that underpins our ethos at SoundLoom.

That is why we seized the opportunity to feature the incredible performer and erudite musician, Omkar Dadarkar in our first ever workshop and concert series. And boy, was it a treat! We have been revitalizing from the revelry of the most wonderful week which turned out to be a surreal experience for musicians, students and music lovers in and around Vancouver.

We started with a two-day workshop where Omkar ji took our participants on a conceptual and hands-on journey of exploring a raga, understanding laya, different taals and valuable practice techniques to help sharpen the voice or instrument and oneโ€™s musicality. Folks in attendance learnt, sang and played with him throughout this interactive workshop. His comprehensible approach and adeptness with different concepts inspired them to learn more, which is often a strong indicator of a thriving community.

Special thanks to ICMSV - Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver, Akhil Jobanputra and Kalฤvฤnฤซ Institute for collaborating with us and supporting us in making this event such a successful one!

Sharing some photos and videos from the workshop. Stay tuned for more on the concert!
