Colour Magic - Strategy & Intuition
A 4-Week Workshop with Harvey Chan

In this four-week workshop, Harvey Chan shares his distinctive approach to working with colour, drawing on years of artistic exploration and experience. Participants will develop a strong foundation in the principles of colour while learning practical strategies for creating vibrant, expressive artwork across a variety of subjects, including portraiture, the figure, urban landscapes, and abstraction.

Through a series of guided exercises, Harvey will introduce both analytical and intuitive approaches to colour-making. By balancing strategy with instinct, students will learn how to make confident colour choices, simplify complex visual information, and identify what is most essential to communicate their personal ideas and emotions. The course is designed to help artists gain greater control, clarity, and freedom in their creative process, resulting in work that is both visually compelling and uniquely their own.

🎨 What to Bring
We offered a drawing board with clips, which fits a maximum size of 11” x 15” pad/paper.
Suggested art materials:

Please bring your own watercolour set, brushes ( or reservoir brush ), water container, and watercolour paper pad or sheets ( 11”x15” ). For drawing, coloured pencils ( water soluble version for dissolving effect )

Urban sketcher Nishant, A.K.A. The Sneaky Artist and figurative artist Harvey Chan invite you to an intimate and revealing presentation of their artistic journeys.

Join us on Saturday, April 11th, from 3–6 PM in Mount Pleasant for a rare opportunity to experience the play, struggle, experimentation, and celebration embedded within the pages of their sketchbooks. This special showcase offers a glimpse into nearly one hundred previously unseen volumes—each bearing witness to the evolving practices, contrasts, and shared dedication of two distinct artistic voices.

For this one-day pop-up event, a curated selection of lino prints and loose original drawings will also be available for purchase.

Through a collage-like process, you’ll construct the figure in fragments—layering, shifting, editing, and refining as you go. Instead of fixing the composition from the start, you’ll allow it to evolve organically.
