Building a community of jewellers and metal artists in Vancouver and the rest of BC to share resource Dues are collected to cover modest administrative costs.

The Vancouver Metal Arts Association (VMAA) is a community of metalsmiths, jewellers, blacksmiths, sculptors, mixed-media artists, enamelists, and others who work with metal or have an interest in the jewellery and metal arts. VMAA was established as a non-profit society in British Columbia in 2012 with the purpose of offering a forum for metalsmiths and jewellers to exchange ideas and technical information, organize exhibitions of metal work, and increase public awareness of metal arts. Good news! We’ve extended the submission deadline for We Meet In Between, the Vancouver Metal Arts Association’s upcoming juried exhibition.

🗓 New Deadline: August 16, 2026

If you’ve been meaning to submit but needed a little more time, this is your chance. We invite artists working in metal, jewellery, and related practices to explore the spaces where identities, experiences, materials, and perspectives intersect.

Meet Our Juror: Charon Kransen

We are honoured to welcome Charon Kransen as a juror for We Meet In Between, the Vancouver Metal Arts Association’s 2026 Juried Exhibition.

For more than five decades, Charon has been one of the most influential advocates for contemporary jewellery. A curator, educator, author, and gallery director based in New York City, he has dedicated his career to championing innovative artists and expanding the global appreciation of contemporary jewellery. Through Charon Kransen Arts, he has represented over 150 international artists, connecting their work with collectors, museums, galleries, and major art fairs across North America.

An accomplished educator and internationally respected juror, Charon has taught, lectured, and mentored artists around the world while serving on the juries of some of the field’s most prestigious exhibitions and competitions. His decades of experience and unwavering commitment to supporting original artistic voices continue to shape the future of contemporary jewellery.

Meet the Juror | Curtis H. Arima

We are pleased to introduce Curtis H. Arima as a juror for We Meet In Between: A Juried Exhibition.

A California-based craft artist, educator, and Interim Dean of Fine Arts at California College of the Arts, Arima transforms inherited and found materials into works that explore memory, repair, sustainability, and cultural heritage. Drawing from his Japanese American heritage and lived experience, his practice reflects on the stories objects carry and the power of transformation.

We are honored to have his expertise and thoughtful perspective as part of this year’s jury.

Vancouver Metal Arts Association invites artists from around the world to submit work for We Meet In Between, an international juried exhibition of contemporary jewellery and small objects.

This exhibition explores spaces of transition—where belonging and displacement, tradition and transformation, certainty and ambiguity coexist.

Open internationally to artists working in:

• Contemporary jewellery
• Wearable objects
