It's time to return to False Creek. Last Saturday, we ushered in the next chapter of the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival, as dignitaries from all levels of government and key partners joined us to unveil the Festival's new artwork crafted by Vancouver artist Carolyn Wong.

At every corner, every second on the water, and every moment at the stages, this artwork will become the canvas on which stories will be written.

Be the first to take home a piece of Concord: find us in Hualien at the 2026 IDBF Club Crew World Championships to find out how your team can race in False Creek in June! Visit concorddragonboatfestival.ca/register for general race info.

About Carolyn Wong ➡️ "Carolyn Wong is a Chinese Canadian illustrator and mural artist based in Vancouver. She has collaborated with a wide range of commercial clients and brings a deep love of storytelling to vibrant illustrations that celebrate nature and community. As a first-generation Chinese Canadian, her work draws on both Eastern and Western influences, weaving nostalgic themes that resonate with diaspora communities. Through colourful graphic forms and dynamic natural elements, her artwork highlights the beauty of the natural world while exploring identity, belonging, and shared cultural experiences through playful, expressive visual storytelling."

The wait until we return in June is getting shorter. 🕰️

In just a little over 2 weeks, we take another step towards welcoming the world back to the full Festival next June. On August 22, we unite our community at the Concord Pacific Summer Dragon Boat Regatta- a one-day celebration of sport and culture. 🐉

Join us on False Creek to mark the end of summer, send off our teams going to Worlds as they race for the last time locally, and celebrate local creativity as Hoang headlines the TD Main Stage. And while it won't be quite the same as the Festival, we're excited to take this step in preparation for our full return and spotlight what makes Vancouver great.

Visit dragonboatbc.ca/summerregatta for more info. The Regatta is supported by partners including Concord Pacific, TD, Lincoln, Real Canadian Superstore, Oddball Workshop, HKETO Toronto, Canadian Heritage, Government of British Columbia, City of Vancouver - Local Government, BC Arts Council, and Sport Hosting Vancouver.

40 years ago today, Canada's first dragon boat races were held at Expo 86. The event, featuring teak boats donated by Hong Kong, and operated with the support of the local Chinatown community and Chinese leaders including the Chinese Cultural Centre sparked a movement that is now Canada wide, and impacted millions of people through paddling on-water, or enjoying our events on-land over the past 4 decades.

To mark this occasion, we've compiled a selection of clippings from 40 years ago leading up to the races and other special moments!

In a normal year, we would be gearing up to host one of the world's largest races- hosted right here in Vancouver, with almost ten thousand racers and team support, and hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world. However, this year, Vancouver is in the midst of hosting another global event which means we're on hiatus at the moment.

That doesn't mean we're on pause: we still have many events year-round that continue to keep the flame burning bright, and uniting our community across BC. Visit us soon at our other programs and events including:

🥤 June 20: Canada Dry Canada Victoria Dragon Boat Festival presented by Fairway Markets (delivered for the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival Society)
🐥 July 12 and August 2: Birds Nest Properties Community Paddling Day (Olympic Village)
🏔️ July 25: Harrison Dragon Boat Festival (Harrison Lake)
🌇 August 22: Concord Pacific - Canada Dragon Boat Summer Regatta (Concord Pacific Place and False Creek)
🦄 September 26: Oddball Workshop Fall Classic (Olympic Village)
🛶 Year-round: Dragon Zone Paddling Club (Olympic Village)

And for those of you waiting for the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival's grand return, mark your calendars. After a season like no other, we write a new chapter from June 25-27, 2027 as we reunite the world on the shores of False Creek for the continent's flagship dragon boat festival.
