Vancouver! The time has come to put Vibe Corridor back in its resting place. Could it be temporary? Could it be forever? Time will tell. For now, we’ve decided to close this chapter on a high note, with a packed month of Vibe Corridor alumni and the most affordable natural wine in the city every Wednesday at our beloved neighbourhood bar, .

As always, there’s $0 cover in effect all night long, and the music starts at 9pm and plays without interruption until 1am. Thanks for all the memories.

Vancouver! BRAIN BATH returns this Friday night at our favourite downtown loft venue. We’ve got the evening’s schedule ready, and we can’t wait to listen to “Inferno” by in all its glory. We’ll also be playing it on vinyl through a pair of beautiful needles from if that sort of thing makes a difference to you. The rest of the night will be a dusted trip through downtempo, Balearic, and classic rave material, all played on one of the city’s finest sound systems. We’ve also dialled in the lighting and visuals for the occasion and can’t wait to show everyone how amazing the space looks and feels.

BRAIN BATH returns on May 29th for another evening of heady downtempo, blissed-out ambient, and life-affirming audio that doesn’t typically find its way onto Vancouver dance floors. May 29th also happens to coincide with the release of Boards Of Canada’s new LP “Inferno,” so we’ll be headed to Audiopile to grab our copy and will be playing it front to back to start the night. What better way to consume what may be the most important electronic music of the decade than in a chill-out room environment in front of a massive sound system with a handful of like-minded individuals?

Afterwards, the dance will begin with the BRAIN BATH DJs and the city’s headiest vibe practitioner, dj_2button of the legendary Weirdos inc. crew closing the night out. Uplifting, interesting, and unexpected beverages will also be served all night long with extra care and attention.

Good news! San Francisco’s legendary dance music intitution and Pacific Rhythm are connecting game once again for an evening of open format, life-affirming, and undeniably fresh dance music from around the Planet-E.

This time around we’re elated to welcome two BPT representatives to the booth. Brampton, Ontario’s Balearic bad boy, , will be making his Vancouver debut, and one of our favourite DJ’s of all time and Wine Hole™ co-founder Jeremy Castillo aka will be back in the mix.

Expect a heavy sound system, heady visuals, uplifting beverages, and vibes beyond comprehension. Dress 2 sweat and bring along your best attitude.

Good news! We’ve teamed up with our friends at , , and to celebrate the arrival of Sapporo’s iconic Lemon Sour in Canada. The night will begin with one of Vancouver’s finest jazz musicians, Chen Baker, leading a six-piece band playing two 45-minute sets of Japanese City Pop. If you’ve had the pleasure of catching one of Chen Baker’s sold-out City Pop shows at The Rickshaw, you know this is something special. If you haven’t, you’re in for a treat!

Afterwards, our Juno award-winning pal will be premiering his first-ever live set under his dreamy house alias, . Expect a beautiful, life-affirming trip from one of Canada’s most prolific and talented producers. We’ll be wrapping up the night with a set from Vancouver’s most beloved DJs and human beings, . DJ D.DEE will be in the mix as well, filling the gaps and making sure the dance floor is primed for a good time.

Well, everyone, we did it! Episode 100 of Pacific Spirit is here, and the legend is behind it. As always, the selection is impeccable, and the vibes are high above the clouds. Here’s what he had to say about it.

“A personal selection, recorded alone in the attic with a bottle of Fourrier. I just counted and sorted a bunch of my current favorite 12”s by BPM and started recording. The result is a selection that leans a bit toward depth and emotion rather than function. Records I don’t often play out, not because they lack drive, but because they sometimes seem to throw people off a bit.

A two-hour ride through early to mid-’90s, centered around the UK scene between 1991–95, with additional sounds from Belgium, Germany, Italy, and the US. It captures a moment when club music was still an open field and trends carried less weight and the boundaries between house, trance, dub, techno, Balearic, breakbeat, and ambient were fluid.

Listening back now, the selection feels quite dynamic. Starting off somewhere between breakbeat and dub-infused house, before it heads towards more rigid genres like prog, Balearic, deep and techy house, then gets dubby again before ending with some trance bangers. Beautiful music for the summer!
All vinyl, recorded on two Technics SL-1210 turntables and a Varia RDM40 mixer, with a Ninja Tune Zen Delay. Carefully processed live afterwards through an Alpha Recording Systems 2200 10-band EQ and an API 2500 compressor for a subtle mastering touch.”

Ahead of an upcoming visit to Japan I reached out to a relatively new mixing, mastering, and lathe-cut studio located on Bowen Island, a short boat ride from Vancouver called .4mt. I’ve always been enamored with dubplate culture and physicality in music, so it felt right to make something special for the visit.

When I realized “Canada House” last year with , I always thought the track “Bleak Affirmation” would feel right at home on a 45. The fellows over at .4mt made it a reality and were able to turn it around within 24 hours—talk about service.

It’s an amazing reminder to support your local music industry whenever possible; it’s amazing to have so many talented people right at our fingertips right here on the edge of the Canadian Riviera.

This edition of 25 will predominately be gifted to new and old friends in Japan, but I’ve reserved 10 of the 25 copies for sale. If anyone’s interested in a copy, please get in touch; they’re $40 CAD, including worldwide shipping.
