VANCOUVER. We’re a few short weeks away from BRAIN BATH Halloween and down to our last 100 tickets. For the occasion we’ve printed 100 of these stickers and will be handing them out to the first 100 people who come up to the DJ booth and ask for one.

BRAIN BATH returns for its fourth session and its first Halloween edition on October 30th. This time around Edmonton’s finest producer, DJ, and all-around wonderful human Jex Opolis will make his triumphant return to Vanhattan, supporting his most recent album entitled AMBIENTE. Expect a winding trip through downtempo chuggers, big room Balearic, and a heavy spread of forgotten b-sides from yesteryear that still pack dance floors today. 

In true BRAIN BATH fashion we’ll be easing into the night and starting things low and slow. ephemeral objects will be setting the tone with the debut of her first-ever live set. ephemeral objects is a DJ, VJ, and producer based in Vancouver, B.C. Her sets move between ambient, experimental electronics, dub, techno, bass, and leftfield club sounds, creating immersive worlds through texture, rhythm, and atmosphere.

Vancouver! Cortex makes their long-awaited Vancouver debut next week at the Chan Centre. This is an essential opportunity to sink into the heady jazz fusion sound that inspired a generation of hip-hop producers.

Founded and led by pianist, composer, and vocalist Alain Mion, recognized as a gold and platnium certified songwriter by the National Music Publishers’ Association, Cortex carved out a singular place in music history with their innovative fusion of jazz, rock, and funk. Their iconic 1975 album Troupeau Bleu is widely regarded as a masterpiece and became a cornerstone of hip-hop sampling, its timeless grooves reimaged by artists including Tyler, The Creator, Madlib, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Baby Keem, and Damso. With over 220 documented samples and more than 120 million streams across all platforms, Cortex’s influence continues to echo through the jazz and hip-hop communities alike, a living bridge between the golden age of french jazz-funk and the beatmakers of today. There’s a very special show going down this Saturday night at The American we would like to tell you about. Ali will be making their Vancouver debut alongside local legends WACK. 

Ali is a three-piece musical project originating from Jakarta, Indonesia. Initiated by Arswandaru and John Paul Patton, the desire of Ali is to incorporate Middle Eastern culture with elements of 70s Indonesian psychedelic funk, cinematic soul, Afrobeat, and disco to create a new groove and sound for the contemporary and vibrant Indonesian music scene. With all lyrics written in Arabic, Ali builds on the influence of Middle Eastern art and music, which over centuries has assimilated itself deep into Indonesian culture and way of life.

Expect a heady trip through the finest downtempo, Balearic ambient, and otherworldly sounds all evening long paired with some of the finest Pu-erh on the planet Earth and other delicious and uplifting beverages.

Vancouver! Get familiar with our dear friend _kelbey_, who will be performing live at the third installment of Brain Bath alongside Pilgrims of the Mind next Saturday night. Kelbey is a long-time friend of the label and was integral to helping us design the booth at Paradise and spent countless hours making all of our Sunday With Pacific Rhythm & Friends at 390 Industrial possible through his thoughtful design and production sensibilities.

Beyond being a beautiful human and the most handy person we know, Kelbey is also a wonderful musician and will be performing a live ambient set with a selection of singing bowls, samplers, his trusty gong, and whatever else feels right. We’re elated to have him set the tone for the evening, and we encourage you to arrive early and bathe your brain with us before the BPMs increase and energy rises.

Dane’s Dance Emporium and Pacific Rhythm proudly present the return of Berlin-based Norwegian DJ and producer Telephones / European Carryall to the salty shorelines of the Glass City on September 26th.  

Telephones is renowned for his eclectic approach and curveball mixes spanning Balearic, proto-house, Detroit techno, cosmic explorations, and pure dancefloor hedonism—from dripping sweat to starry eyes and happy tears. With over 25 years of experience behind the decks, his journey began with primitive software and two Technics SL-1200s.

turntables in Bergen, Norway, at the turn of the Y2K. Since then, his music has organically and consistently evolved into a highly respected discography on labels like Running Back, S*x Tags UFO, Klasse Wrecks, Acido and Love On The Rocks to mention a few. Now a veteran in the scene, Telephones stays true to his underground ethos of euphoric togetherness and pure passion for music and movement.
