Electric Company Theatre

Electric Company Theatre Electric Company Theatre Electric Company has created more than 25 original productions and toured to the United States and Great Britain.

Electric Company is a leading force in the Canadian live theatre scene, recognized for creating original work rich in spectacle and adventurous in form. In recent years the company has had a presence on major stages and festivals in North America including San Jose Stage, American Conservatory Theater San Francisco, Canada's National Arts Centre, the Vancouver Playhouse, the Arts Club Theatre, Alb

erta Theatre Projects, Theatre Calgary, Montreal's Festival TransAmeriques, Victoria's Belfry Theatre, Edmonton's Citadel Theatre, and Toronto's Canadian Stage. Steered by a collective artistic vision under Core Artists Carmen Aguirre, Kevin Kerr, Kim Collier, and Jonathon Young, Electric Company's creative process is highly collaborative, blurring traditional boundaries between playwright, director, dramaturgy and design. The tension between "immediate" and "mediated" performance inspires a body of work where the allure of the ideal cinematic reproduction is in counterpoint with live presence - an athletic attempt at precision, with the threat of the accidental. The company is based out of a shared, 6,000 square foot theatre creation space in Vancouver's Commercial Drive neighbourhood, Progress Lab 1422.

A Special Sneak Peek!

Carmen is hard at work on a new draft of her latest play, The Consent Club, and has gathered a group of Vancouver’s leading actors for a live reading.

This Friday, April 17, we invite you to join us for this important moment in the creation process. Hearing the work aloud—shared in a room with others—is essential as the piece moves toward its next phase. The reading will be followed by light refreshments and an opportunity for informal conversation.

is bringing Violist, Composer & Performer Ryan Davis with his boundary leaping solo project Radia to the Fox Cabaret. Blending classical virtuosity with the sonic worlds of electronic, folk, and hip-hop, Davis reimagines the expressive possibilities of the viola through layered soundscapes, live performance, and original compositions. The result is music that feels at once intimate, rhythmic, and expansive.
