Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a time to recognize the harm that too many older adults experience and to reaffirm that every elder deserves safety, dignity, respect, and care.
Elder abuse can take many forms, including emotional, financial, physical, or social harm. It can happen quietly, which is why awareness, connection, and community support matter so much.
At Britannia, we are grateful for the seniors and elders who bring wisdom, history, leadership, humour, and care into our shared spaces. We are proud to offer a variety of programs for adults aged 55+, creating opportunities for connection, learning, wellness, and community. We are also honoured to host our Elders in Residence program, where Indigenous Elders share their knowledge, teachings, stories, and culture with people of all ages. To know more, visit us in person to grab a brochure or look at our website.
Looking out for one another means listening, checking in, and helping create a community where older adults feel valued, supported, and safe.
Today and every day, letβs honour our elders through respect, protection, and care. π
