Message from Mark Vandenberg ~ Writer & Director of Shawshank:The Musical:

“That concludes District 13 Presents production of Shawshank: The Musical at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. There is nothing quite like having an awesome last performance in front of a sold-out house. Words cannot express my gratitude to the cast and crew that made this fun parody a reality on stage; the actors, the live band, the behind-the-scenes geniuses, all were amazing.
Also, it was a blast sharing this musical with all the Fringe theatregoers from family to friends to colleagues to students to complete strangers. I think it is fair to say that this production has stretched me as a writer and director. Thank you to all who made this possible. It is always bittersweet to close a show. But who knows, maybe a local theatre company will have us remount Shawshank: The Musical in the near future.
If not, you may have to wait until we devise our next musical production. Gotta get busy livin’!”
