✨🎤From all of us at the IMPROMPTU Cabaret Festival, we’d like to thank you for your support of our 17 incredible artists from this year. We hope you came away feeling inspired, sharing a laugh (or a few tears), and as though you’d seen “behind the curtain” of some of the Lower Mainland’s top performers.
✨🎭To our artists: thank you for your tremendous bravery, vulnerability, talent and passion.
✨🥰Thanks also to the Havana Theatre, our sponsors (Music Box Delivery and Lin Piano Services), our lighting designer/SM Amanda Parafina, our billboard designer Sean Anthony, and our promo team at Ghostlight Social.

A pastiche of musical theatre songs that no one in their right minds would hire me to sing on stage ... but I'm going to perform them anyway! By exploring what one is Not, one can sometimes realise what one Is.

A self discovery in finding your purpose with a bit of foam and glue.
✨🎶4:00 PM Cecilly Day “Black...ish?” :
Some people are born sassy and some have sass thrust upon them by the preconceived notions of their skin colour. This is the story of Cecilly and how she discovered she was “black” 8 years ago. Come along on a musical journey as she learned to navigate through a world that sees colour before the girl.

From mischief to wickedness, join Diane on a musical exploration of moments of transgression and how they have shaped her life.
✨🎶7:00 PM Caitriona Murphy, “Caitriona Murphy’s Superfun Birthday Party Cabaret: Looking Back & Looking Forward”:
So what do you do when you have a big birthday? After a profound year of rewarding work, reflection and thinking about the big b-day, this is the perfect time to talk about some of the experiences and memories that brought her to this moment. This will definitely include at least one big disaster, the importance of family history, LOVE, as well as navigating a song culture that embodies aspirations we are all told we should want and sometimes…choosing a different path. This cabaret is a selection of songs that are part of the journey of self-discovery. 🥳 There will be CAKE!

Born half a world away, lived on 3 continents by age 15, moved 15 times in the next 10 years and then spent my adult life as a freelance actor, working across Canada.

A young woman gently re-examines the previous chapters of her love life and her place in this world.
