ELLE Canada Anna Lambe Is Our October 2026 Cover Star!

Although sheā€™s had a number of supporting roles in Canadian productions, the Inuk actor got a big international break in 2024ā€™s True Detective: Night Country. The following year brought North of North, the critically acclaimed comedy from CBC, APTN and Netflix thatā€™s filmed in her hometown of Iqaluit. Lambe received raves for her performance as protagonist Siaja, a single mom rebuilding her life on her own terms, and she earned a nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards and won two Canadian Screen Awards this past spring. Then thereā€™s a flurry of Hollywood roles. Itā€™s a good time to be Anna Lambe.

ā€œIn this industry, things can change so quicklyā€”Iā€™ve had huge, life-changing heartbreaks that [have made me realize] that even when somebody says yes, it can easily become a no,ā€ she says. ā€œYou have to manage your expectations, always have a backup plan and be willing to be told no and to pivot. I still keep myself incredibly open to experiencing new things, but itā€™s always with the thought in mind that it can go wrong or be taken away. That doesnā€™t stop me from experiencing joy; it just means that I protect myself. How big do you [let yourself] dream?

A trailblazer for Indigenous storytelling, an advocate for women, and a supporter of all artists in the film and television community. An acclaimed actor, writer, director, producer and activist. She was a valued member of our Integral Artists family, as is her daughter, Crystle Lightning.
