COMING SOON! 25 years of Hedwig and the Rio is the place to be for the anniversary tour. /// HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH returns to the big screen in a stunning 4K restoration, with writer, director and Golden Globe-nominated star John Cameron Mitchell in attendance for a live Q&A and a special acoustic performance. Tuesday's show is already sold out, a second show has been added for Monday, July 20.

Arrive early for the pre-show costume contest for a chance to win prizes from The Criterion Collection and The Punk Rock Museum. Come dressed as your best Hedwig or in a look inspired by the work of Mitchell.

VIP tickets include first four rows centre section, a meet & greet and a signed poster. Post-show meet & greet add-ons also available.

MONDAY! A small town. A faded polaroid. A one-way ticket out. /// SLANT is a visceral, culturally charged crime drama from director Chester Sit, screening Monday night at the Rio with filmmakers in attendance for a live Q&A.

Clarence has spent his whole life face-down in the dirt. When a Triad boss rolls through town, he sees his blueprint and uses raw ingenuity to claw his way into a criminal empire. He rises fast. Next stop: East Broadway. /// Abby Govindan brings her internationally touring hour-long special PUSHING 30 to the Rio Theatre as part of Indian Summer Festival 2026. Forbes 30 Under 30 (2026), one of the youngest headlining comedians touring the world right now, and the creative force behind How To Embarrass Your Immigrant Parents — presented by Hasan Minhaj and produced by Daniel Sloss, which debuted off-Broadway at the Soho Playhouse in 2025. Her set digs into aging, dating, and the very specific chaos of breaking generational curses.

Opening the night: Niki Mohrdar, described as an absolute delight on stage by the Vancouver Guardian. Conversational, warm, and genuinely funny. You'll feel like you're hanging out with an old friend before the headliner even hits.

ONE NIGHT ONLY! Six broke Hollywood hopefuls. One crooked producer. A heist nobody asked for. /// Six struggling Hollywood nobodies get the opportunity of a lifetime: rob a stack of Academy Awards from the producer who crushed their dreams. ABOVE THE LINE is a scrappy heist comedy about desperate dreamers, sweet revenge and the long con of show business, where pulling off the perfect job might just be the role of their lives. Starring Sophia Ali, Cedric the Entertainer, Reno Wilson, Jamie Lee, Adhir Kalyan and Gregg Henry.

COMING SOON! A cinematic letter for anyone still longing for somewhere else. /// FLY ME TO THE MOON arrives at the Rio this Sunday as part of STArt Film Studio's "Dear Home" showcase of acclaimed Chinese-language films.

Sasha Chuk's award-winning debut follows two sisters who move from Hunan to Hong Kong in the 1990s, navigating poverty, identity and the long shadow of a father lost to addiction. A quiet, unsparing film that spans two decades — and earns every emotion. Winner of the NETPAC Award and FIPRESCI Prize at Taipei Golden Horse.

Screening includes a pre-recorded Q&A with director Sasha Chuk.
