Cineworks is pleased to present Pitching for Introverts, a hands-on workshop led by filmmakers Nisha Platzer and Joella Cabalu.
From casual run-ins to speed meetings to formal on-stage presentations, there are countless ways youโll be asked to pitch your film and yourself as a filmmaker. If youโre lucky, youโll be pitching your project from conception all the way to its premiere on the big screen. In other words, ๐๐ผ๐โ๐น๐น ๐ฏ๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ! So you might as well learn to enjoy it.
But what if youโre an introvert in an industry that rewards being the loudest person in the room? What if networking feels more like an extreme sport than a professional skill? Good news: you donโt have to become an extrovert to pitch with confidence. You just need to find your own way in.
In this two-hour session, the team behind the feature documentary back home (Telefilm Talent to Watch, VIFF 2022) director Nisha Platzer and producer Joella Cabalu, (both self-identified introverts) will help you jumpstart your pitch through writing and networking exercises. Theyโll share their collective 25 years of industry experience, along with hot tips, practical advice, and lessons learned from their own pitching adventures.
This workshop is ideal for filmmakers with a glimmer of an idea, who are ready to shape their logline and pump up their elevator pitch. By the end of the session, youโll have a draft of your logline, bio, and โask,โ plus practice talking about your project and a boost of confidence to help you pitch it out in the world.
