The recent news about the residential schools in British Columbia is atrocious and deeply disturbing. This is way too close to home, our community and families. 215 Indigenous children were found buried at a Kamloops residential school site, some as young as THREE years old. Our history in Canada is horrifying, & until we acknowledge that & recognize the truth, we will continue upholding systems built on a foundation of racism, violence & harm without question.

That residential school only closed in 1978. The last residential school closed in 1996. This isn't some distant history that we are talking about. 

And Indigenous people continue to be oppressed in this country, the effects are very much felt in the present day.

We should be collectively grieving this atrocity as a country. 

Indian Residential Schools Survivors Society is a B.C. based organization that’s been providing services like counselling and health and cultural services to survivors of residential schools. Residential school survivors who need support can call the National Indian Residential School Crisis Line at 1-866-925-4419. Just a friendly reminder to all of my artist friends, submit your music videos to our brand new music video channel at www.thefreshmusic.tv

We’ve had a great response so far but we are still looking to add some music to our library. If you’re an artist or know one with a great music video, we’d love to include it on our channel. The goal of the channel is to present a diverse mix of Canadian artists and genres to an international audience online. The channel will be live 24/7 on both our website and twitch. The channel will feature music videos, interviews, live-streamed concerts, original shows, and limited-edition merchandise.

Artists are encouraged to submit multiple music videos. If you have any questions or suggestions please reach out!!

Our goal is to showcase Canadian artists to an international audience, the channel will run 24/7 on twitch and our website. We will feature a wide range of genres, it will be an open format that will include a diverse mix of artists.

As we move forward with the project we plan on doing featured artists of the week, featured tracks, interviews, a weekly top 40 program, album/single releases, live stream concerts, and much more. We will also be looking for other content creators in the music industry that are producing podcasts/regular shows to feature on our channel.

Our website is fully integrated with e-commerce features and we plan on doing limited edition band merch as well.

The Live Agency would like to thank EVERYONE who helped create the nights we will never forget. This includes artists, sound techs, venue staff, fans, managers, agents and even the people who only texted when they wanted guestlist (We haven’t heard from you in awhile, but hope you’re doing well!).

There is a magic to seeing music performed live that cannot be replaced and we’d like to acknowledge that right now. Globally our entire industry has been devastated by COVID-19. As a whole, we are at risk of losing music venues, landmark theatres, major festivals and the businesses that create those magical moments in our lives.

Right now we are working daily with industry partners and associations to find solutions on how to produce events that are safe in this new COVID world. In all of our conversations no one has found the magic bullet or solution yet, but we have seen some outside of the box concepts that work in other markets, that we are hoping to bring to BC by next year. The silver lining in this has really been how great it’s been to see our industry come together and support each other in these incredibly difficult times.

We would like to thank Creative BC, FACTOR, The Government of British Columbia and the Canadian Federal Government for their financial support during this time. We are incredibly grateful to have grant programs that support the music sector. Our goal with the funding is to create new opportunities in venues throughout the province for artists of every walk of life an genre.

Thanks again to EVERYONE who has helped create those nights we will never forget, we cannot wait to be able to do it with you again.

Attention artists:

This year has been incredibly challenging, we hope you are doing well and staying safe. The goal of the Live Agency has always been to help introduce artists to new audiences. As we can’t really do shows at the time we have decided to start an Artist Development division. Our goal is to help artist’s develop a workable strategy, impactful brand and better overall product. We don’t have interest in artist management at this time. This would be more of a consultative relationship with no strings attached.

We don’t care what stage of your career you’re at as long as you’re professional. As this is a new service we’d like to see what level of interest there is, and offer 3 bands the opportunity to work with us for three months at no charge. Obviously we’d like to help every artist if we could but that isn’t a reality, in your email give us a brief overview of where you are right now in your career, where you’d like to be and what are your pain points at the moment.
