Axis Theatre Company Axis Theatre Company is a TYA (theatre for young audience) physical theatre based company, from Vancouver.

We create on the unceded lands of the Coast Salish people. Axis Theatre Company has a mandate to present professional physical theatre to the communities of its native province, British Columbia, as well as to national and international audiences. Over its 45 year long and richly creative history, Axis has amused, inspired, moved and sometime startled thousands of children, families and adults wit

h its theatrical presentations. Stretching the boundaries of live theatre, Axis has spearheaded the creation of over 55 original productions. Our work has been recognized with many award nominations including a Dora Mavor Moore, a Sterling and a New York Drama Desk Award in the Unique Theatrical Experience category. It's us! We'll be performing Th'owxiya The Hungry Feast Dish in Surrey with the help of our friends at Surrey Civic Theatres!

Catch Axis Theatre Company's production of Th’owxiya: The Hungry Feast Dish, written by Joseph A. Dandurand, directed and dramaturgy by Chris McGregor.

Choose from two shows, one at 12:30pm and the other at 2:30pm, each followed by a brief Q&A. Indigenous storytellers spin a tale from the Kwantlen First Nations Village of Squa’lets. Come enjoy the traditional Coast Salish and Sto:lo music, masks, and imagery while learning how Raven (Sqeweqs), Bear (Spa:th), and Sasquatch (Sasq’ets) trick a hungry spirit and save Kw’at’el and their family from becoming the feast!

Seating on a first-come basis. An entertaining production for people of all ages.
