Amongst the many goodies we’re looking forward to at our upcoming Housewarming & Fundraiser party next week, we’re excited about the live performance by Kim’s Convenience creator and PT pal, Ins Choi. He’ll share a bit from Son of a Preacherman, including a song or two that he’ll play on a finely tuned guitar, loaned to us by our pal ! 🎸

🏆 On June 1, Vancouver’s theatre community gathered for the inaugural Rumpus Awards, a celebration of the unsung heroes who don't usually get their moment in the spotlight.

🎭 Hosted by our friends at Neworld Theatre and Progress Lab, the evening honoured stage managers, administrators, dramaturgs, and many others, alongside essential categories like Favourite Tech Week Snack (pizza for the win).

Kaitlin was awarded the "Act of God Award: for Resilience During a Biblical Catastrophe" 🙌, recognizing the work over the past year helping Pacific Theatre chart a path forward. Honestly, with all the flooding, we couldn't imagine a more on-brand award for PT. hah!

We loved every minute of this delightfully silly and heartfelt event. Huge thanks to everyone who made it happen. To the entire Vancouver theatre community keeping the lights on and the shows going. You all rock 🫶

📣 Heads up! The afternoon of our Housewarming Event coincides with a World Cup match. Canada is playing from 3–5 PM that day. Woo hoo, go Canada! 🇨🇦

Granville Island will be hosting a watch party, and while we've been assured things should settle down by our event in the evening, we expect the Island will still be buzzing. There will also be road closures downtown throughout the day, which could complicate your driving plans a bit.

✨️Our Recommendations✨️
▪️Give yourself some extra time
▪️Consider alternative transportation (Transit, a nice bike ride, the False Creek Ferries etc.)
▪️ Come early and spend the day at Granville Island!
▪️Join efforts with a friend and carpool!

This fall, House of Anansi Press will publish Ins Choi’s Son of a Preacherman, coinciding with the show’s national tour. It was a joy to help bring Ins' story to life last season, and we're so proud of the way this little show has caught on. Congratulations to Ins! ✨

🍻We’re stoked and grateful to have our friends at in Chilliwack, sponsoring beer for the event. We'll be serving their Jer Hazy IPA, Naveen Mango Lychee Sour, and Jürgen German Lager.

🍷And our pals at , North America's first Indigenous owned winery, will be sponsoring the vino for the evening. (Non alcoholic beverages will be available, as well!)

🧀While you're sipping, you can enjoy an amazing charcuterie spread from who make beautiful, custom-made charcuterie, cheese boards, vegetable spreads, exotic fruit platters and grazing tables for the Greater Vancouver area.
