: Nov 5-15, 2026 VAFF is the longest running Asian film festival in Canada.

It was founded in 1995 and debuted in September 1997. Since then, tens of thousands of film lovers have experienced a diverse selection of North American-Asian and international films. Each year VAFF attracts close to 5,000 audience members over its four-day festival and year round events. It also reaches many more through word of mouth, pre-festival events, and traditional and social media throug

hout the year. VAFF is entirely organized and produced by a group of dedicated volunteers, and is made possible by generous financial support from corporate sponsors, public funders and private donors.

Continuing our 30-week countdown to -- "Naughty, or Rice?" was a perception-bending theme for the 17th Annual Vancouver Asian Film Festival in 2013, matched with close to 50 films that challenged your perspective on culture, behaviour, and choice. We had doubled our community partners that year, and we increased the number of films from outside of North America. There was a sold-out screening of the Canadian Premiere of Linsanity. We continued to expand our impact on championing the Asian diaspora.

Continuing our 30-week countdown to -- 2021 marked the festival’s 25th year, a perfect time to celebrate the theme “Past, Present and Possibilities.” We reflected on the festival’s past achievements, recognized its growing role in promoting Asian film and culture, and looked to future opportunities to increase inclusion and representation. Fast forward to this year, we will be celebrating another milestone in November. Will you join us for our 30th birthday?
