We are excited to announce the winner of our 2026 Fall Residency Contest - Chloé Chua! 🎉🏆

Chloé Chua is a Chinese-French Canadian multidisciplinary artist working and residing on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. As a bi-racial, q***r, and neurodivergent artist, Chloé’s approach to performance art combines elements of circus, dance, textile arts, and storytelling to explore themes of identity, diaspora, and cultural reclamation.

Inspired by nature, cultural tradition, and connection to the land, Chloe’s art remains deeply rooted in self-expression, advocacy, and education. As a co-founder and director of Portal Studios Art Society, and program coordinator for Social Circus Foundation, Chloe’s non-profit work focuses on creating inclusive spaces and accessible community programming.

Chloé was the lucky winner drawn from over 950 entries - wowza! 😯

We truly feel the deep need in our community for (free) spaces for artists to collaborate, experiment, write, move, and grow together. We wish we could grant ALL OF YOU a space, but for now, we will keep running these contests twice a year and do what we can to support. Thank you all for being here - and keep entering! You never know when your lucky day will come 💕

📚✨ Special shout out to a dear friend who just co-wrote a new book: Why Didn’t You Bi***es Tell Me?

It’s a wonderfully candid, laugh-out-loud, tell-it-like-it-is take on menopause and aging — packed with real testimonials and gloriously irreverent musings. Basically the honest conversation nobody had with us… until now 😅

We are SO proud and SO here for it! Congratulations to Jordi Hertz and Shauna Cagan - we can’t wait to get our hands on this 📖

Back in June, we sent our friends at Theecstasy up to Whistler for an artists residency and retreat! ☀️🗻 Looks like they definitely got up to something…

We are very grateful to be able to support artists in this way and we know they’re cooking up lots of tasty theatrical treats for us all to enjoy 👀

Speaking of two-hander plays that hit you right in the gut… remember this one? 👀

We co-produced ‘The Sound Inside’ with all day breakfast theatre back in the winter of 2024. Directed by Mindy Parfitt and starring Kerry Sandomirsky and Jacob Leonard, this one really stayed with us for a while!

We can’t wait to get started on ‘Job’ in September with an absolutely stellar cast and creative team.

The numbers are in! We’re pleased to have donated $1,525 to Westminster House Society Indigenous Programming during the run of ‘People, Places & Things’ 🧡

$525 came from the outreach activities we hosted, and $1000 was donated as part of our active reconciliation commitments (donated by a local corporation on our behalf).

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated 🥰
