We are excited to premiere The Underlying Spirit by Canadian composer Christine Donkin, commissioned by Vancouver Cansing Choir.

Inspired by the words of Emily Carr, with additional text written by choir members, this new work explores the idea of the spirit beneath the surface of nature and human experience.

Christine will be joining us for the performance — we can’t wait to share this with you!

Jade is a third-year mezzo-soprano at UBC pursuing a dual BMus–BEd degree. A graduate of Saint Patrick Regional Secondary School (Official) Choral Program, she now sings with the UBC University Singers and Chamber Choir.

Come experience a night of music that celebrates connection, creativity, and community.
