Hi Kababyans!

This is great for new and emerging IBPOC playwrights and writers interested in transitioning into writing plays (PAID OPPORTUNITY!). I have the privilege of being one of the dramaturgs on this team. I know the deadline is tomorrow, but I know the organizers, and they'd be very cool with extensions!

Please share with folks you may know!

Are you an emerging IBPOC writer? The Parallel Project by Momentum 180 Collective is receiving applications for a 7-week writing workshop!

The artists will be mentored by a local dramaturg, paid a $650 honorarium, and get a reading of the new pieces. Apply by May 6th!

Mabuhay,

Here's a fundraiser campaign to support two collaborators on Deep Fried: A Pinoy Musical:

During the pandemic New(to)Town Collective has continued to work hard in creating inclusive spaces in our Training Jams. We have been dismantling economic (paying what you choose) and participation barriers (i.e. ASL interpreted workshops) while practicing safety protocols Over the past two years we've realized the true value of ensemble theatre training in times of isolation.

Now we need your support to continue offering performance training in our community! $1500 will fund the personnel, production, and administration costs to produce these workshops.

There are ONLY 4 days left for our fundraiser and we are only $500 away from our goal! Help us by sharing this post or donate at newtotowncollective.com

Here is a little blast from the past!
New(to)Town Collective is grateful for the rich memories and experiences over the years. These magical moments in our Training Jams would not be possible if weren't for the beautiful souls that play with us.

In this photo, a group of individuals from different backgrounds, ages, experiences stand as a clump, making the same pose as the person at the front of the group. This flock of people was captured during a Training Jam in 2015.

Show your LOVE and donate to New(to)Town Collective, helping us raise $1500 by March 1st, 2022. Whatever you can do to support us, we welcome it with great appreciation and ridiculous love! THANK YOU!

Mabuhay! Here's a wonderful emerging Filipinx-Canadian playwright whose reading of Opo is being read tomorrow at 7 pm PST online, for FREE! Deep Fried's Davey Samuel Calderon is the dramaturg for Bianca Miranda. Register VACT for your link:

👉✨Attention vActers our annual MSG 1 Readings is one week away. Today we're spotlighting ‘Opo’ by Bianca Miranda. – RSVP now for the FREE online reading (Iink below in the comments) happening on Jan 29 at 7 pm.

👉About the play:

Dee has had it. She is completely fed up. For most of her life, Dee has been pleasing, appeasing, and molding herself for others. There is something that wants to come out, something ugly, and it’s got wings. “Opo” follows the story of Dee in her quest to find her authentic self and it’s strikingly clear what that is – a manananggal, a shape-shifting creature that detaches from its lower body, and sucks the viscera out of its victims.

👉The MSG Lab is vAct’s annual new play development program, produced in association with PTC (Playwrights Theatre Centre)

Mabuhay!

To continue Friday's spirit of sharing within our community events, performance, workshops, and other meaningful initiatives that help our Filipinx/a/o, q***r, and IBPOC communities, we encourage folks to message us if they would like us to share that work.

We'll start with this amazing workshop coming up, recommended by Deep Fried's Davey Samuel Calderon:

As we come back to live performance, interested in a whole body, embodied tune-up of your instrument?

Then, I highly recommend attending this GVPTA - Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance's workshop by Eddy van Wyk (one of New(to)Town Collective's Co-Founders!), happening this Wednesday. Eddy's work is deep, embodied and powerful. Brave Body is a great opportunity for all of us who are coming back to creating and performing live after these next few months. Open to all skill levels. Online workshop. Only $10+GST workshop fee. More information and how to register @ mas.gvpta.ca/2021
