Hi All, Claire here. I am excited to be running an art retreat at Naramata Centre this summer. It will be a really juicy way to explore both expressive arts and nature as it relates to our own journey. Naramata Centre is lovely and offers onsite accommodation so very, very close to the Naramata wine bench - this is a win/win/win experience. Come and dwell a while with me.

Dwell: A Nature Led Expressive Art Program (Claire Davis)
Ages: 15 – 115
Monday – Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30
$50 + $30 materials fee
Dwell:
to live or stay; reside.
to continue in a given condition or state e.g. happiness
to linger over, emphasize, or ponder in thought, speech, or writing
to be motionless for a certain interval during operation.

Because of the connection to place and land is a foundation of human belonging and because we, as people, have created a separation between us and nature, in this retreat, we will let the natural world be our guide to reconnect to ourselves, each other and the planet. Combining a variety of expressive arts, such as mixed media, cyano-type, collage, writing, painting, sculpting, and individual and collaborative public installation, participants will use the landscape and natural processes present at Naramata to deepen our connection to the places in which we dwell physically and creatively.

This progressive, intergenerational retreat is for ages 15 and up. Each day we will ease in with a mindful practice, ground with a centering check-in, invite our curiosity with a guided inquiry through various expressive arts, and harvest our individual and communal insights to close. The goal is to co-create an authentic and safe space for creativity, reflection, and sharing where participants can use nature as their teacher and their touchstone.
