For immediate release.

Central Studios announces it won't be able to re-open.

It is with a heavy heart we announce that Central Studios is no longer. After many months of uncertainty, the decision has been made that we can not continue. Due to ongoing BC Health orders, coupled with a insufficient support from the City of Vancouver, Province of British Columbia, and the Government of Canada, we are left with no choice but to say goodbye. Some deciding factors include no clear opening date, ineffective government support during the pandemic, ever-increasing property taxes, increasing hospitality insurance costs, and a combative City of Vancouver arts and culture bureaucracy.

Although Central Studios will not be returning, the people behind creating this new space will be back when it is safe to do so. Keep and eye out on Vancouver Art and Leisure, Alternative Pride, Restricted Entertainment & Vancouver Fe**sh Weekend.

We would like to thank the Art and Leisure & Restricted teams for making all of this possible with their endless contributions, equipment, and staff. As well, Application Audio, and their entire team for leading our renovations - which we all never got to experience completed :(

We would like to thank our wonderful community of promoters and arts programmers who made this space so interesting. From events like Harem, to Tight Squeeze, Playpen, Sin City Fe**sh Night, ZillaLive, Transmission, Foreign Influence, Bearracuda, Hustlaball, Backdoor Vancouver, Coffin Club, PURR, Smokeshow, and all the different community groups and causes we were able to make space for. From dance, to theatre, to burlesque, to kink, nothing was off-bounds.

This had always been envisioned as a community space, with the foremost concern being able to provide a liberated space for Vancouver alternative q***r communities - something outside of the mainstream, unapologetically brave, where we could do our own thing. This could not have happened without each and everyone on of you who showed up, from our opening weekend in August 2019, to our last events in mid-march. What an incredible and sad journey that ended far too soon. We wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing you in our next incarnations, whatever those may be.

EVENT & TICKET UPDATE (March 17)
In light of the recent prohibition of gatherings over 50 people, and in support and solidarity with the widespread community efforts to slow down the spread of the CoVid-19 Virus, the upcoming S***K party at Central Studios has been cancelled, with all advance tickets already actively refunded as of 2:30 PM today.

It's unsure when or where the next event might be down the road, but suffice to say, it will only come when the health authorities have given the all clear, and people feel safe gathering en masse once again.

Until then, stay safe, and wash your hands!

In light of the recent prohibition of gatherings over 50 people, and in support and solidarity with the widespread community efforts to slow down the spread of the CoVid-19 Virus, all upcoming events at Central Studios are postponed, and the venue is closed until further notice. At the very least we will be closed for several weeks, to a possibility of months, until the all clear from the appropriate health authorities is given, and people feel safe coming out en masse again.

We are monitoring the news closely, and will be issuing further social media bulletins as developments warrant, regarding the status of Central Studios and our associated family of events.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank our amazing and diverse family of attendees, employees, promoters, volunteers and supporters from the many corners of the LGBTQ+ / kink / underground and counter-culture arts & music communities. Your interest, presence and involvement is what has enabled this new and sorely needed non-commercial community space to grow in the heart of the downtown core of Vancouver, and hopefully we'll all be able to get together again soon!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT (COVID-19)
ALL EVENTS WILL CONTINUE AS SCHEDULED!

Dear friends & family in the fe**sh, arts & music community :

We know many of you are concerned and have questions about the recent news of CoronaVirus, both in general, and how it may affect upcoming events. The health and safety of our community is our priority, and we are monitoring official channels very closely including The CDC, the World Health Organization, The Gov’t of Canada & Worksafe BC.

We are staying informed of official recommendations for best practices and preventative actions.

We all have to do our part, and we want to share with you what actions we are taking.

At present, BC is still considered low risk.

While many large scale festivals, music and sporting events have been cancelled, smaller scale events and gatherings under 250 people are also considered low risk.

We are proceeding well within gov’t recommendations and despite being considered low risk, we are taking an abundance of caution with the following additional steps:

WHAT WE ARE DOING :

We will have hand sanitizer at various stations throughout the venue.

We have placed signage in all washrooms reinforcing the importance of washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

All drinks are served in single use, disposable plastic cups.

We have additional staff and additional training of staff to help enforce an escalated regular cleaning regimen, including regular surface wipes of high traffic areas such as counters, tables, hand rails, door k***s, POS devices, ATM machines etc.

WHAT YOU CAN DO :

First and foremost – wash your hands for 20 seconds minimum with soap in water any time using the bathroom or anytime after coughing or sneezing. As well, please make use of hand sanitizer, which we will have available at various stations throughout the venue.

PLEASE STAY AT HOME IF YOU ARE FEELING SICK, HAVE A COUGH OR A FEVER.

All events are currently scheduled to go on as planned. If there are any changes, we will alert everyone via social media and direct email.

We will continue to monitor official channels closely and work within the gov’t regulations.
