A fan of music, that’s how it started. Matt’s relationship with songs and instruments began when he was 13 years old, at the time his family lived in Islamabad, Pakistan. His parents' work took them all over, from Saudi Arabia to Kenya. When he put on the headphones, or picked up the guitar, or sat at the piano, this is where he found home.

His new album “Like an Old Tree in the City” is out now. The collection of songs really speaks to his originality as a songwriter and producer, and pushes boundaries in genre and sonics.

One week until Sweater Weather! Have you bought tickets?

Singer/Songwriter Silent St. j, perfectly marries Alternative Folk and soulful vocals creating an emotional resonance with her music. She has the ability to enchant her listeners with honest and captivating lyrics and hauntingly soothing vocals. Silent St. j sparks a sense of wonder in the hearts of any audience, taking them on a journey through the liminal spaces of her mind.

As a child, Silent St. j often spent her time lost in the depths of her thoughts and the vastness of her emotions. Inspired by cinema, she would imagine herself within narratives that would echo her reality. She began writing songs as a means to accompany the surreal movies that were playing in the back of her mind. To this day Silent St. j continues to use this method to create her music, drawing inspiration from both TV & film, and especially her dreams. By blending her introspective lyrics, gentle guitar picking, and a voice of velvet, Silent St. j invokes a hypnotic ambience to produce her cinematic songs.

✨TD Uptown: Next Gen Stage Presents: Royal Oak ()✨

In an age where minimalism reigns supreme, Royal Oak brings its brand of wall-of-sound maximalism into the pop realm. Formed in 2014 in the suburbs of Vancouver, a growing catalog of singles, albums, and Canadian tours has propelled the group a long way from these humble beginnings.

Friends since early childhood, the four learned their instruments together, paving the way for their sonic trademarks of interlocked backbeats, hook-laden choruses, and clever throwback references. For Royal Oak, like for many, 2020 was a period of hibernation and reflection. But now, the band is ready to reveal its most ambitious
project to date: a self-produced 11-track album shaped almost exclusively over Zoom. On the new record, the quartet draws from influences as diverse as pop-punk, R&B, and EDM, fusing together an eclectic sound that rests firmly in sleek alt-pop territory. The third single from the album is “End of the Night,” a decidedly sexy song that breaks new ground for the band. Masterfully mixed by 4x Juno-nominee Brandon Unis (Karl Wolf), the friends-to-lovers tune blends danceable modern pop with sultry R&B. Written remotely in the depths of the pandemic, End of the Night bursts with a pent-up energy familiar to all of us.

Royql will be closing the Next Gen stage at 5:30, this Saturday, July 16!
