At the start of this year, I began reading about the I Ching, something from my own culture I‘d always wanted to go deeper into.
It’s vast. A cosmological map as much as a divination system. You go in thinking you‘re learning a practice and realize the depth has no bottom.
It’s one of the oldest oracles still in use. And like Poesis, it speaks entirely in image and verse — each hexagram paints a scene, a poetic narrative.
An image doesn‘t resolve the question. It creates the conditions to feel something almost as if you are right there in a vivid dream. And then it hands the question back to you.

Today’s mantra: I hold my voice, my creative energy, my ability to think and discern.I honour my pace and my process.

The word intuition comes from the Latin intueri, meaning “to look at” or “to contemplate” — formed from in- (at, upon) and tueri (to look, to guard, to watch over).

The deeper root carries a beautiful dual meaning: to look inward and to protect. As if the act of inner seeing was always understood to be a form of self-guardianship.

When I was traveling in Nepal in 2017, I met a man who had carved his own flute and was playing music on the streets of Kathmandu. He had come down from a mountain village to earn money for his family.

He told me that if he didn’t have enough money for food, he could go to a restaurant and be fed without question. And if he made more the next day, he’d return to pay them back.

In that community, no one is left behind. The act of giving and receiving- it’s seen as the same thing. It was never seen as a transaction. The word thank you isn’t even used too often, because the gesture itself is the gratitude, and the deep understanding that reciprocity is the only way the whole can stay whole.

The collective card for the month of August is “Give.”
Give not from guilt, but from the understanding that you are part of something larger, and your offering, whatever it looks like, keeps the energy moving and help the us all stay afloat.

Keep giving in the way you can—
your voice, your creation, your attention, your prayers, your donation to support relief work in Gaza, where many are being starved by the minute and killed in an ongoing genocide.
