Autumn has arrived and I’m back at my cauldron brewing up the colours and pigments from foraged invasive plant species 😊
All along the verges and interstitial spaces of Montreal’s north shore where I was born and raised, invasive Phragmites Australis has choked and crowded out the native bulrushes and plants that were once well established and abundant in the area, reducing access to food for native fauna and draining wetlands.
They’re pretty waving their purple flowers in the wind… but deceptively so.
Now they will be transformed into art that celebrates the science and chemistry of Nature..
