Is the ocean calling your name??

The ocean has a strong force, a constant push and pull from ever flowing tides. There is also stillness in pools of water collected at the shore. Honouring our connection to water gives us a deep sense of solace. The coming and going of our thoughts find peace in the stillness of our mind.

This is typically the time of year when the ocean and lakes beckon us to dip our toes or fully plunge into her inviting and refreshing waters. Even though the solstice is almost upon us, here on the West Coast it seems we are far from languishing in the lazy days of summer sunshine and warmth. Let’s hope that the Summer Solstice ushers in some sunnier skies and warmer temperatures.

Working on raw canvas is almost like staining the fabric when putting down the first layers.
This is the first time I have tried working with unprimed so it truly be an experiment of testing various thicknesses of paint to see how different marks respond to it.

Wandering along a wooded path, I am mesmerized by the astonishing array of textures, patterns, colours and shapes. My heart’s desire is to capture these details in my art and share the pleasures of the natural world.

Is there something in your world that you are in awe of? It could be from nature, your garden, a work of art or perhaps a particular colour. For me, I am mostly drawn to trees and their bark which tells the story of their lives.
