MEET OUR DIRECTOR/PRODUCER 📝💡🤹🏻‍♀️

Alpha Frias is a Filipino-Canadian filmmaker currently based in Surrey, British Columbia. Growing up, she had a natural inclination to the arts, and would spend her days drawing, painting, and joining art competitions whenever she could. She eventually got into photography & graphic design because of this, and then her love for film grew from there.

After completing a short course on Video Production in VanArts, she continued to finish her degree in Film Production at Vancouver Film School. Throughout her year of study in VFS, she has met some incredible filmmakers that all inspire to tell stories that leave a lasting impression.

She is still on her way to become a Writer/Director, but for now enjoys the technical side of working with the camera, and the hustle of being on set, while learning the ins & outs of filmmaking.

MEET OUR LINE PRODUCER:
Tom Eley 📑🗂💻

Tom arrived in Vancouver over 18 months ago, after deciding to leave New Zealand to attend VFS. Tom has an enormous passion for film and storytelling and alikens a good story to that of the same experience you get when you listen to a friend tell a story around a bonfire - just with better effects.

Tom is interested in directing, cinematography, and producing. He loves being on set. Tom has had a very broad background studying, business, journalism, the culinary arts and has travelled off and on as a solo traveller for the last few years. He is inspired by the likes of his fellow countrymen, such as Taikai Waitit and Peter Jackson.

His favourite films are Empire Strike Back, Boy, What We Do In The Shadows. He inspires to one day work at Marvel or Disney, or just anywhere imagination is encouraged.

MEET OUR 1ST ASSISTANT DIRECTOR 🗓⌚️📒

Cleber Pomerinskas is a multi-talented artist, having written books, and various music pieces in Brazil where he produced several advertising videos. In Canada, he produced the film “Ghostin,” was 1st AD on “One too Many,” and wrote and directed the short "Lazy."

MEET OUR DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY 🎥🎞

Josh Klassen is a 20 year old filmmaker, born in Vancouver, BC. He is particularly interested in the Cinematography side of film production, and is gaining more and more knowledge on the subject every project he works on. Josh's main film goals are to start working in a film union and to continue working and developing his side projects like music videos, music video conceptualization and short indie level films.

All in all Josh is very passionate about filmmaking and learning everything that goes into making a movie even if it doesn't fall under his department.

MEET OUR EDITOR: Kyle Hansen 🖥⌨️👨‍💻

Kyle was born in raised in Minnesota, where he grew up with a background in Theater, which he carried with into adulthood. This eventually grew into a creative hunger to explore the world of film production, where Kyle now seeks to make his mark. In his free time, he enjoys writing, in addition to pursuing his love of theater.

MEET OUR PRODUCTION DESIGNER: Emma McVicar 🛋🎨🖌

Emma has had several works in multiple Art shows from 2015 to 2018 for Sir Fredrick Banting S.S., Western University, and Bealart in her hometown of London, Ont. While attending Bealart after highschool, she learned foundational skills in Painting, sculpture, printmaking, illustration, life drawing, and specialized in Ceramics for 2 years, as well as Textiles and Experimental Film & Animation.

She was co-Production Designer for her class’s Term 2 shoots at Vancouver Film School, and since then has had several roles within the Art Department, including Art Director for the short film Ghostin’, and Production Designer for the short films Derek’s Big Break, which wrapped filming in December of 2020, and One Too Many, which wrapped filming this past April.

Emma has had her hands in several parts of the Art Department, including graphic design, costumes, prop making & buying, set decorating, budgeting, research & concept creation. She is currently teaching herself Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as Procreate.

Limbo is Emma’s third project as Production Designer, and will also be in the same position for the upcoming short film Zombies Have Feelings Too. She hopes to work in Props & Graphic Design after school.
