Yasmeen Nasar

'Yasmeen Nasser is an Egyptian-Canadian visual artist based in North Vancouver, British Columbia. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from The American University in Cairo. Rather than limiting herself to a single subject, Yasmeen paints what she feels drawn to - places, flowers, everyday objects, and moments that spark a sense of beauty or connection. Through rich colour, light, and expressive brushwork, she aims to create paintings that invite viewers to pause, feel at home, and find joy in the ordinary.'

'Lakshmi Gosyne paints with a focus on light, atmosphere, and the emotional power of colour. Inspired by the changing sky, weather, and open space, her approach to painting reflects her journey across cultures and coastlines. Through warmth, contrast, and careful use of mood and balance, she creates paintings that invite viewers to pause, connect, and discover quiet joy. She mainly paints on canvas and wood panels, and evokes calm, clarity, and a strong connection to nature. Lakshmi believes art should be felt as much as seen, leaving space for memory, interpretation, and personal meaning.

Currently from Port Coquitlam, Lakshmi is originally from Trinidad and Tobago and grew up in Toronto. She’s also lived in New Zealand and Thailand. Her background in communications and storytelling brings clarity and purpose to her art. This experience helps her connect with viewers and create images that leave a lasting impression.'

'I’m a product of a Squadron Leader in the Canadian Air Force and a beautiful Fashion Model. Being brought up in the forces enabled me to travel through Europe, and gain an appreciation of art in all its many forms.

Later in life, I went to University, started my Diploma in Visual Arts. Lately, I’ve been painting landscapes, of Europe, the Far East, and British Columbia. My paintings are in Oil and Watercolour.'

'I am a Finger Artist, I work with oil pastel and acrylic.

My imagination comes from the beauty that I see in nature and from the joy of living. “Joie de vivre “

I studied Visual Arts, Graphic Design and Tourism. Travelling are some of my main passions.

I really did connect about doing a lot of Arts about 3 years ago and I feel in love with creating.

When I create, I let myself go, put some music and it feels like time stop and I’m living in the present moment. It gave me a beautiful headspace, and then my imagination start to flow.

As a finger painting artist, it feels like dancing with my hands. I represent what feels good in life with a lots of colours.

And if my Arts can leave a smile in someone’s life, it feels my heart with love.'

'My name is Scott Samuels, I have always enjoyed drawing my entire life since I can remember. As I went through school, art class was always my favourite class. When I got into high school I took art class always as an elective. As I graduated high school I took up a plumbing apprenticeship and left art alone for quite a few years. I returned to art and drawing later on and reignited my passion for it, I had started off with doing portrait drawings and expanded into painting. Acrylics and oils are the mediums I use the most in my works. The types of paintings I tend to create are a bit mixed with abstract and landscapes/ city scapes and ocean scapes, utilizing lots of color and contrast between different textures creating a vibrant yet soothing feel as you view the paintings. I hope you enjoy!'

'Mike Catherall paints using various fruits and acrylic. He is particularly fond of citrus fruits and the unique patterns they form on watercolour parchment paper. He “finds” his art in the stains they make. This imagery acts as a gate between the first and second world.'

Maryam Fasaie

'I am an Iranian-Canadian symbolic figurative painter based in Vancouver. My work explores the human condition through symbolic and narrative compositions, creating layered images that reflect emotional depth and the complexities of contemporary life.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a certificate in Accounting from Iran, alongside a background in traditional Iranian miniature painting, and later pursued English studies at Capilano University. In recent years, I have focused on oil painting, developing my practice through independent study, formal and online art training, and a sustained study of classical Old Master techniques, while incorporating elements of miniature painting into my work.

My practice is informed in part by my experience of losing vision in one eye at the age of three, shaping a perspective that continues to influence my work.'

BEHIND THE SCENES
Photoshoot with artist Sandy Wen

'Sandy Wen (b. 1992) received her Bachelor of Interior Design from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, before earning a Master of Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, Rhode Island. Over the past decade, she has built an international practice as both an interior designer and artist, living and working in New York and Vancouver. Her background in architecture and interior design informs a keen sensitivity to materiality, light, objects, and spatial composition, qualities that continue to shape her painting practice.

Working primarily in oil, acrylic, and watercolour, Wen explores the emotional resonance of memory, domestic objects, and the spaces we inhabit. Drawing from personal recollections and everyday encounters, she transforms familiar forms into poetic, semi-surreal narratives through expressive colour, layered textures, and carefully composed imagery. Today, Wen divides her artistic practice between Vancouver and New York.'
