Hi everyone, I am so excited to announce that I’ll be at this event next Sunday! Got Craft Markets
I have been trying to get into this market because I have so many pieces piling up in my garage that never made it to the regular markets. This is my first time ever to sell off the seconds, samples, left-overs, experiments, trials, errors, uglies, B-grades, failures and embarrassments. You will see things you usually never see from me. 😆 All the items will be on sale, including limited numbers of drippy glaze items from my recent firing. There will not be any regular priced items at this sale. Come early for a better selection.

Yunomi cups are my favourite thing to make. It’s simple with no handles so they tend to last a long time. I like leaving Rokurome(throwing lines), and that is one trait I inherited from my teacher I learnt pottery from. The dimple also was learnt from him (which is something you see in Japanese pottery sometimes) and I’m convinced he’s the reason why we see so many dimpled cups in Vancouver today. I love seeing the glaze movement, and since I tend to like the fluid glaze, if the surface was flat, the glaze will most likely just run down the side.

I try to make them so that they fit in your hand well. The Rokurome lines align with fingers while the thumb grabs the dent and it feels secure and you feel the warmth while holding it. Yunomi cups are perfect for green tea or coffee, or any drinks that are not boiling hot.

The last photo shows the profile of the cup. To get the soft swirl the cup has to be thrown thin. However I leave the rim thicker to make it more durable, but also to prevent the cup from warping in firing.

Summer special 👗🐚🏝️porcelain earrings with 18k gold plated studs.

I wanted to use this blue crackle glaze but I knew it is a very runny glaze, so I put the dark blue celadon glaze on the side to stop the crackle glaze from running down. I love how the dark glaze blended with the crackle glaze. I will have these available this weekend.

すっごく綺麗な釉薬が出来た。I love the new glaze I just made🩷 as usual it’s a little too fluid but if I stiffen it, it probably won’t look the same so I’ll leave as it is and adjust the thickness. I love that after learning glaze chemistry I am able to make a true one of a kind pottery with my own glaze recipe that no one can replicate.

Glazing whale cups: the glaze was getting too low in the big bucket to dip the cup fully, so I poured the glaze in the bowl to get enough depth. I glaze this way so both the inside and the outside get glazed at the same time with a more even result.

I am so relieved that the grey whale who has been hanging around in Vancouver inlet is doing ok after the collision with the jet ski. I signed the petition to better regulate the activity of jet skies in the busy water.

Over the last weekend I sold many whale cups at the .ca stores in Vancouver. I am so happy that my whale cups were picked, probably as gifts for Mother’s Day 🩷

I’ll be leaving for Japan in a couple of days, but these cups will be ready and be restocked in
