The Chapel is excited to bring into our cozy space on November 17th for the final instalment of our 2023 season. Described as a multi-disciplinary, q***r-femme force, SIESKI, is a singer, songwriter, musician and actor based in so-called Vancouver on the ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.

In connection to her roots on the West Coast, her stage name, SIESKI, represents the tides of the sea and the keys of a piano. SIESKI draws you into her dream world with alluring vocals and melodies that flow and swell and absorb the listener. In combining theatrical influence and organic musicality, her artistry culminates in a rich, ethereal sound that feels both modern and timeless. Carrying a warmth and love of her craft, SIESKI delivers earnest, heartfelt songwriting in explorations of indie, alt-pop, jazz, and electronic styles.

She released her debut EP, ‘Dreamist,’ in 2019, followed by a string of unique singles, including her latest song emblematic of a golden hour drive, ‘Happy To Be Here’. Previous releases include Factor-Funded music video, ‘Scale Model,’ and q***r-femme, alt-pop anthem, ‘Lady Deity,’ notably featured in the , a q***r showcase, curated by season one winner of Canada’s Drag Race, Priyanka, and Toronto-based Q***r Collective. With each release SIESKI treads new creative ground, rooted in an authentic glow her fans have come to adore. Bloggers and music reviewers have described her sound as ‘warm, rich and magical,’ (The Other Side Reviews) and that it ‘feels both intimately familiar and captivatingly otherworldly,’ (TJPL News).

The Chapel of St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church is excited to be partnering with the Reflector Project of the Rector's Cupboard to bring artist-theologian Julian Davis Reid to the Chapel on October 13th. He will be joined byTyler Murray on drums and Wynston Minckler on Double Bass.

Julian Davis Reid (M.Div., Candler School of Theology) is an artist-theologian who uses words and music to invite us into the restful lives we were created to live. A musician, speaker, and writer, Julian offers his contemplative-musical program Notes of Rest across the nation and he plays internationally with various musical outfits including The JuJu Exchange and Isaiah Collier & The Chosen Few. He is a Fellow of Theological Education Between the Times and consults with the grassroots organization Fearless Dialogues. Julian writes about faith, music, Blackness, and rest on his Substack “Julian’s Note,” and his work has been featured in Sojourners and Downbeat.

This show is part of the Reflector Project's Annual Conference for 2023, in partnership with St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church, and will look at hopeful understanding of work and rest. We will hear from fantastic speakers and presenters and participants will (as much or as little as preferred) be able to hear from one another. We aim to come away from the conference grateful for our vocation, knowing that in work and rest we engage with our own humanity and with the humanity of others in ways that are life-giving and meaningful.

Tickets for either the Friday evening show, or the Saturday conference can be purchased via the link in our bio! Julian will also be preaching at 10:30am on October 15th for the morning service at St. Andrew's-Wesley.

Loud and Quiet (https://www.loudandquiet.com/reviews/janette-king-what-we-lost/?utm_content=buffercc6d6&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer) had this to say of our upcoming chapel performer: "Jannette King gathers the strands of loss, exploring each separately and forming them into a sonically broad alternative R&B debut. Her mature reflection on a variety of issues is not overdone, and the [music] is energetic and melancholic in equal measure."
