We are thrilled to announce our Artist Call for the 2027 edition of IndigiDance on Screen, curated by Artistic Associates Samantha Sutherland and Sophie Dow, to be presented at Matriarchs Uprising Festival from February 13-20, 2027!

We have TWO categories that interested applicants can submit to this year:
1. Completed film works
2. Yukon Indigenous Artist Co-Commission - interplay_2027 x Matriarchs Uprising Festival

COMPLETED FILM WORKS
◉ We are seeking 4 short films that are completed
◉Films must be a minimum of 4 minutes up to a maximum of 20 minutes.
◉ Lead applicants must self-identify as Indigenous women.

YUKON INDIGENOUS ARTIST CO-COMMISSION - interplay_2027 x Matriarchs Uprising Festival
Matriarchs Uprising and interplay_2027 are co-commissioning one Yukon-based Indigenous artist to develop a live online performance to be featured in interplay_2027 and Indigi-Dance on Screen with additional mentorship and technology support. Lead applicants must be from the Yukon and self-identify as Indigenous women.

DEADLINE: October 30, 2026

☀️ As we take in the sunshine this summer, we just want to take a moment to thank everyone who supported our tour last month! Here are just a few snapshots of Zaagi’idiwin: Our Mothering Heart, featuring Olivia C. Davies' Rematriate, Sophie Dow's Journals of Adoption, and Samantha Sutherland's naⱡa.

Our gratitude goes out to and for hosting us on Syilx territory and Lekwungen territory, respectively, and to all the audiences and community members who came out to see the performances, witnessed our conversations, and learned in our workshops.

Matriarchs Uprising is going on tour--and we're stopping in Kelowna!

Presented by and , Matriarchs Uprising – Indigenous Women Dancing Stories of Transformation features performances by Olivia C. Davies, Sophie Dow, and Samantha Sutherland; Talking Truths Circle Conversations; and two workshops at Rotary Centre for the Arts in Kelowna.

Inclusive pricing is available for all events, which are happening on June 15-16.
