Love Medicine, curated by Métis art historian Dr. Michelle McGeough, aims to create a space of recognition and community, offering an artistic embrace in response to the historical traumas inflicted by the settler nation-state on 2Spirit/Indigiqueer bodies.

This exhibition is founded on the belief that love, expressed through artistic acts, is a powerful force for healing and affirmation. It features approximately 22 Indigenous 2SLGBTQIA+ artists whose works touch on various time periods and regions, and explore love as healing, community and belonging, affirmation and embrace, and resilience and identity.

Qillaniq (an Inuktitut word describing how light from the sun or the moon shimmers brightly when reflecting on water) — is co-curated by an all-Indigenous team from the circumpolar world.
The artworks celebrated in this exhibition are multi-vocal, multi-disciplinary and improvisational, inspired by Indigenous values of contributing to community in as many ways as possible. Qillaniq is an expression of radical joy, an exploration of what the artists tell us is possible in our communities, of holding space for the people who change our world – despite not always fitting into the norms of colonizing institutions – a celebration of those that share love as an answer to difficulty. Qillaniq, that shimmering on the water, that bright light honours the circumpolar world’s badass artists that tell us all that our existence is enough.

Ceremonial/Art is thrilled to present Chipewyan (Dënesųłinë́) artist Jake Kimble’s inaugural solo exhibition in Vancouver Take Two Moons & Call Me In The Morning. Thinking about photography through a Northern lens and how healing the cold can be, Kimble brings forth new works that were developed over the course of their 2 month residency at the Klondike Institute of Art In Culture in Dawson City, Yukon. Acts of self-care, self-repair, & a cheeky disposition towards survivance are all at play in this new body of work.

We are thrilled to share that Krystle Silverfox was announced as one of the long listed artists for the 2026 Sobey Award, Canada’s most established contemporary visual arts prize. Funded by the Sobey Art Foundation, this award is the richest in the country and one of the most generous in the world.

Krystle Silverfox is a member of Selkirk First Nation (Wolf Clan), and an interdisciplinary visual artist. She currently lives and works on the territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwach’an Council (Whitehorse, Yukon). Her artistic practice explores different materials, methodologies, and symbols to create conceptual works. Krystle Silverfox is inspired by Indigenous feminism, trans-nationalism, decolonialism, activism, futurism and lived experience.

Silverfox has exhibited in group exhibitions across Canada, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Audain Art Gallery, UBC Okanagan Gallery, and The McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

“The photo series (We Are Our Own Heroes) depicts the relationships that we cultivate in urban centres, often far from our communities, a kinship that exists on concrete land. This series of images feature Indigenous presence in the city. Starting with memory, I am thinking about growing up in East Vancouver and what that experience was like for me. It feels like it could represent any of our aunties and this piece to me really feels like a way to take up space in places that were not always welcoming or safe for us.”
