🗣️ Calling All Emerging Conductors!

Passionate about conducting and keen to sharpen your skills in front of a live, truly fantastic choir? Join us!

On August 15th, Nabi Vocal Ensemble presents our annual Emerging Conductors Symposium, where you’ll have the unique chance to lead our talented singers.

And there’s more: you’ll receive one-on-one coaching and mentorship from Dr. Graeme Langager, Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting at the University of British Columbia.

Throughout the day, you’ll refine your technique alongside fellow aspiring conductors and gain priceless feedback in a live choral setting.

In case you don’t know Dr. Langager:

Graeme Langager is Director of Choral Activities at the University of British Columbia School of Music and a frequent guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician. He has conducted performances in cathedrals and concert halls throughout Europe and across North America, as well as at choral conferences and festivals. Langager served as the artistic director and conductor of the acclaimed Phoenix Chamber Choir in Vancouver from 2012 to 2018, during which the choir released three CDs and was invited to perform at Canada’s Podium Conference in 2016. He received his DMA in conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and an MM in conducting from California State University.

Don’t miss this exceptional chance to learn, grow, and network with peers. It’ll be a memorable weekend!

As spring gives way to summer, we’re warmly inviting you to join us for The Passing of the Year, a Nabi Summer Concert on June 13 at 3:00 pm.

This concert includes diverse repertoire all over the world, and features British composer Jonathan Dove’s The Passing of the Year—an 18-minute song cycle accompanied by our fantastic pianist, Eshanta Peiris.

From the fresh energy of spring to the cold hard stillness of winter, this piece captures the beauty, reflection, and transformation found throughout the year.

Rarely heard in Vancouver, you truly won’t want to miss it!

aaaaaand Nabi sneaks in to secure the GOLD! 🏆

Nabi wrapped up our second annual Whistler tour last weekend at Con Brio, and it was a trip full of sunshine, singing, and silliness.

It’s such a gift to have a community like this: caring, humble, growth-focused, and wickedly talented.

With hikes, brunches, pool shenanigans, and (we can hardly forget to mention) our award-winning performance, this weekend will live in our hearts for a long time 🩵

🦋 NABI RETREAT 2026 🦋

On Saturday, our singers took a trip to beautiful (rainy) Bowen Island for a change of scenery. We spent a little bit of time rehearsing and a lot of time connecting.

With minute-to-win-it games, a show-and-tell, and some pub time all together, everyone left retreat with a new perspective on the singers we see every week, and an appreciation for the community we’ve built.

(Our choir has some seriously cool, silly, inspiring, talented, nerdy, funny people.)

We had a lot of fun, as we always do! 🩵

Yesterday, Nabi hosted our third annual Emerging Composer’s Reading Session where three incredible artists had the chance to workshop their recent works with a live choir—Nabi!

Katerina Gimon returned to share her perspective and tips with our composers, and our conductors and singers chimed in to share their experience.

Despite a broken heater in the church, it was a heartwarming evening.

Thanks so much to our composers for trusting us with your art! 🩵
