A three screen video installation, created by Scott Smith and Nettie Wild, that immerses the viewer in the wonder of the annual herring spawn. No narration, no interviews, just the abstract patterns of nature and humans within it.

GO FISH opened this past weekend at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa as part of the 2023 Governor General’s Award winners exhibition. Thank you to everyone involved at the Gallery for the beautiful installation, and a big congratulations to co-director Nettie Wild for her award! GO FISH is accompanied by a single blinking fish eye from Nettie’s previous installation Uninterrupted as well as a trio of wonderfully complimentary Escher prints from the Gallery collection - an inspired choice by curator Andrea Kunard.

It was a extraordinary time to be in Ottawa and an honour to be presented amongst so many incredible artists.

GO FISH runs on a 15min loop in the Lower Contemporary section of the Gallery (Room B109) until March 3, 2024.
