can drain you while whispering the sweetest things.
‘I’ve Bled Enough’
The dark calls to me for a return,
but instead, I wrap it around myself,
bending it to my will.
I make it into a void cloak to protect my light
from vampires who wish to extract every essence.
Their fangs are sharp but not of bone.
On others’ triumphs are they honed.
They numb you with praise before they strike
and pierce your mind to feed upon your soul.
They could grow their flame,
but instead wish to harvest fuel.
Cannibalize their neighbors for the wish
to warm the receding hearts.
I feel sorrow for those of this diet,
for they never know how much damage they inflict.
Their mind believes they are sharing,
but they are simply playing with their food
So, travel the nights with caution.
Keep your defenses at the ready.
Creatures of the night often dress in the finest illusions.
Black holes wearing the suit of a sunrise.
