Maritime Marionettes

Maritime Marionettes Since 1986 we have been creating our marionettes and producing our touring shows for family audiences.

We are available to perform locally, nationally or internationally for theatres, festivals, schools, special events, daycares or banquets. Maritime Marionettes has performed thousands of shows for audiences across Canada and abroad since 1986. Traditional and original stories come to life with exquisitely made and skillfully manipulated wooden marionettes. The company creates delightful producti

ons from concept to finished product. Our current touring repertoire features five wonderful shows, available in English or French.

📣 RALLY AT NOVA SCOTIA'S LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL 📣

Please note that the Marigold Cultural Centre's Box Office will be closed from 12-2 PM on Thursday, March 5, so that our staff and members can attend the Truro rally. The Box Office will open from 2-5 PM, and from 6-7:30 PM for our Dave Gunning concert.

Rally for arts, culture, and heritage. Truro rally takes place Thursday, March 5, at 1 PM, starting at Civic Square.

In case you missed it:

We are deeply disappointed to share that the Government of Nova Scotia’s Budget 2026-27 includes a 20% reduction in provincial funding for the Cobequid Arts Council and the Marigold Cultural Centre.

While the province cites a need for fiscal management, we believe that investing in the arts is essential, not discretionary. Culture is the heartbeat of Colchester. It drives our local economy, supports our artists, and provides a "living room" for our community to gather, learn, and be inspired.

A 20% cut creates significant challenges. It puts pressure on our ability to keep programming accessible and maintain the high-quality experiences you’ve come to expect at the Marigold. It is difficult to build a "vibrant province" while reducing the very support that keeps community hubs like ours thriving.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The Marigold has always been fueled by the passion of our community. Now, more than ever, we need your voice and your presence.

Show Up: Attend a show, visit the gallery, or take a workshop.
Spread the Word: Tell your friends and neighbours why the Marigold matters to you.
Stay Tuned: We will continue to advocate for the value of the arts in Nova Scotia.

We remain committed to our mission, but we cannot ignore the impact this decision will have on our future. Thank you for standing with us.

We are shocked by the proposed cuts to the Arts. Please join the rally today in Truro at 1 pm. Starts at Civic Square and goes to the office of our MLA, David Ritcey.
