Almost ready. In between cutting grass, putting the finishing touches on the obstacles, fixing the irrigation, iron our logos on the gift bags, clean all the guest rooms I managed a marathon school with Kas/Checker, a dressage school with Archie and a marathon lesson for Heather. Charlotte, Ashly and Liana are also working non-stop prepping horses, whipper snipping, gardening, dump runs and more. Life on a farm is non-stop. Now to put up the cones course and buy food for the dinner on Saturday. See you all soon.

I thought that I would be clever and breed my own pair. Instead, I have five siblings that are five different colors. Four of them are in the photo below. The fifth is a Bay. How is it that you can get siblings that are five different colours? Even the two pairs of full siblings are different colours! At least they are all quality animals with excellent bloodlines.

Archie is finally home after 35 of being stuck in a stall (24 days on this side of the pond) due to a horse on the fifteen horse shipment having bloodwork issues. I must thank OHS for their excellent communication and dedication to trying to solve this issue in a timely manner as well as Kim Mervyn and her staff for their care while he was in quarantine at their place. I hope to take him to Bromont in three weeks. Fingers crossed we can fit him up in time.

You haven’t heard much from me lately as I am out at TBird on the West Coast of Canada working as a national Jumper steward. Today is a day off to get laundry done, catch up on business and recharge for the next six days of, what are often, 12-14 hour days. Like most officials I started down this path to give back to a sport I have spent a lifetime in and love. I am also a combined driving TD and steward. I like that I am here to try to keep the playing field level, keep both humans and horses as safe as possible and help educate professionals and competitors who occasionally forget or have not kept up with the latest rule changes. 99% of the time this is a great way to stay involved. You get to work with other like-minded and dedicated officials, watch beautiful horses, and see some superb sport. But, and there is always a but, not everyone plays well in the sandbox. This may be attributed to our industry becoming more of a business rather than a sport that involves amazing animals that not only take us into the ring, help us achieve our goals and, more often than not, bring us out of the ring in one piece. Sometime politics play a role in poor behaviour. Sometimes it is just a bad day. We officials are here to help. I love this part of my industry life.
