OBA SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED → AUGUST 25, 2026

The submission deadline for the inaugural OBA Film & Video Festival 2026 has been extended.

New Deadline: August 25, 2026

OBA welcomes filmmakers, artists, researchers, musicians, dancers, cultural practitioners, and storytellers working with film and video around music, dance, memory, living heritage, and unheard stories across the Turkic world and its diasporas.

Applicants whose work is ready are encouraged to submit early, as the curatorial review process is already underway.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS | OBA Film & Video Festival 2026

We are delighted to announce that submissions are now open for the inaugural OBA Film & Video Festival 2026.

Organized by the Institute for Living Stories, in partnership with the ICTMD Study Group on Music and Dance in the Turkic World, and hosted by the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts and the Faculty of Communication at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, OBA welcomes films, videos, and moving-image works exploring music, dance, memory, archives, living heritage, and untold stories across the Turkic world and its diasporas.

It was a tremendous honor to serve as a member of the International Jury at the 3rd International Forum of Maqam Art in Namangan, held under the patronage of UNESCO, ICESCO, TÜRKSOY, and the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan.

Over several unforgettable days, I had the privilege of listening to extraordinary artists from around the world and working alongside an exceptional panel of colleagues. My sincere thanks to our distinguished jury chair, Mansum Ibrahimov, and fellow jury members Abduxoshim Ismayilov, Amer Jafar, Edi Taym, Feryal Basel Tuzun, and Margaret Descheneau. It was a pleasure to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and celebrate the remarkable diversity of the maqam traditions.

My deepest gratitude goes to Ozodbek Nazarbekov and the Ministry of Culture for their vision and commitment to safeguarding this extraordinary musical heritage, as well as to Azamat Nurtanov and Nasiba, whose dedication, generosity, and professionalism made the entire experience seamless.

Congratulations to all the participating artists and prize winners. Your artistry reminds us that maqam is not simply a musical tradition—it is a living cultural heritage that continues to connect people across languages, histories, and borders.

I leave Namangan with new friendships, inspiring conversations, and renewed hope for the future of our shared musical heritage.
