This is the image that the WordPress AI generated when I asked it to create a photo of Val Kilmer in the AI-generated rolin the new film "As Deep as the Grave," formerly known as "Canyon Del Mu**to" or "Canyon of the Dead.” At first the image closely resembled Kilmer, but became a bit more Tom Cruise-y with a touch Ethan Hawke as I changed the prompt. Kilmer's likeness is used in the role of Father Fintan. After adding that the film took place in the 1920s Southwest, US, the traditional priest's collar and cloak were replaced with western gear, less facial hair, a tougher expression, sun-exposed skin and a cowboy hat. His collar was replaced by a scarf. The background now shows his posse riding along with him. He also developed a stubborn stare and lines on his forehead. The photographic Val Kilmer was more interesting and had more distinct characteristics than the cinematic version. I wish I stopped at the first one, which looked a lok like the real Kilmer.
Continuing work on the image showed different results like the image below. I’ll share further changes with you in the magazine, in addition to the original story.
Archival footage and past performances by Val Kilmer have been assembled to recreate his likeness for a role in "As Deep as the Grave." He has, in a sense, been brought back to the screen — not resurrected, but digitally reconstructed using artificial intelligence or AI for the role.
