So glad to participate in the Lingering exhibition with newcomers from other places, bringing together the diversity of art. I have been preparing for the exhibition since last year, and I feel lucky to have as the curator. I always got inspired when hving our virtual meetings. I also met amazing people when I collected some old items for my project at the beginning. They were curious about what I was working on, and we connected because of the exhibition. This was one of the greatest things I experienced during the project. Eventually, it has also become a part of my artwork. The object not only carries my good old memories from Hong Kong but also the new ones here in Toronto.
About the Exhibition
“From the exploration of memories and their representation in Marzieh M. Miri and Mohamed Meer’s photo works, to experiencing memories that live in our bones and being through Laurent Good, Nima Arabi and Sami Oritz’ paintings. The symbolism that comes with objects and memorabilia and takes us back to places and people with Dilys Ching’s work. While listening to words that break the silence and bring our awareness to the here and now through Niya Addullahi’s work and Saghar Beheshti and Moha Tavakolizadeh’s performance.
Tightly hugged between the walls, Sahar Alamgir traces back her steps, connects her fabrics together, framing the natural light of the summer days we await for so long. As time passes and the engravings take shape we ponder in their details as does Azadeh Pirazimian’s drawing and sculpture.
Once again we float and once again we linger.”
