Last but not least, please welcome our final OCAD University Graduate Resident, Hayeon Lee, who will be taking over the Project Space!

⋆.ೃ࿔🌸*:・

Hayeon Lee is a Korean interdisciplinary artist based in Toronto and Seoul, working across installation, sculpture, sound, video, and ceramics. Her recent work began by exploring Gyeongcheong (listening) as a material and spatial condition, creating situations in which clay, vibration, gravity, and uncertainty actively shape the work rather than treating materials as passive tools. Building on this approach, her current practice expands toward how objects and environments continue to exist by affecting and being affected through relationships. She recently received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Art, Media and Design from OCAD University.

Hayeon will be using Xpace as a studio for the next month, creating an exciting new exhibition that will begin on September 5, with an opening reception on September 11.

She has exhibited in both commercial galleries and community-driven events, including at Gagné Contemporary and in the basement of Prehistoria.

Please join us in welcoming our next OCAD University Graduate Resident, Natalie Obregon, who will be taking over the West half of our Main Space!

༘⋆📼˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚

Natalie Obregon is an interdisciplinary artist working in Toronto, Ontario. She is a recent graduate of OCAD University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting. She utilizes painting, analogue film, personal and found archives to examine memory, intimacy, and the concept of the family. Using oil on canvas and burlap alongside gel image transfers on 16mm film, she blurs and disrupts photographic imagery to destabilize its ostensible indexicality and truthfulness

Natalie will be using Xpace as a studio for the next month, creating an exciting new exhibition that will begin on September 5, with an opening reception on September 11.

There, she makes work that is driven by typography and made through iteration, often integrating publication and exhibition design into her practice. Currently, she is exploring graphic design as a tool to fabricate authority, and of irony as a means to subvert it.
