The limit of what you can do with ceramics isn't your skill level, because your skills can always be improved (which is what our experienced instructors are there to help with in a class). The limit is what the clay itself is capable or not capable of. At MUD, we want our students to succeed in making whatever it is they want to make, and that starts with an understanding of the material - and an open mind, of course!

How can you set yourself up for success as a pottery student? At MUD, we provide a generous amount of clay, a guaranteed wheel for every student in our spacious studio, and experienced instructors who know how to guide students of all experience levels. All students need to bring to the studio to be successful is a little humility and a willingness to practice!

We have all of the tools you could possibly need, including everything from aprons to glazes, so you don't need to show up with anything except an open mind. Our teachers are there to help you improve each time you go through the pottery process, as long as you're willing to keep trying and learning.

The story of how MUD's glaze wall, including how a student's feedback helped inform the design! These 3D test tiles shows the (many) combinations of dip glazes available in our ceramics studio for students to use.

Our glaze wall is specifically designed to be easy to understand, and therefore easy to use - even beginners can look at these test tiles to quickly tell how glazes will look when layered on top of each other. We get great feedback on this system from students of all different experience levels!

At MUD, we've taken a lot of care to design the features and even the layout of the studio to be streamlined for students and classes, and we're always open to suggestions from our community - let us know if there's anything you wish MUD had!

Take a peek inside the kilns at MUD with us to see some recently completed student work! 🫣 We love the variety in our students' work, and our experienced instructors work hard to help students turn the same white clay into so many different types of objects that really reflect everyone's individual styles and visions.
