“GO TO THE WOODS!” Auditions for our upcoming production of INTO THE WOODS kick off one week today on Monday, January 19! Audition slots are extremely limited—less than 5 slots available! This youth production is open to young artists ages 11 to 21.
Due to demand, we will be accepting video submissions as well.

ABOUT INTO THE WOODS
Mainstage Theatre Company will embark on a journey Into the Woods. The beloved classic by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine has captivated audiences for generations, and now, Toronto’s young performers will have the opportunity to bring these iconic roles to life. All your favourite fairy tale characters—Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack (of beanstalk fame), Rapunzel, and more—are here, their stories woven together to create a rich, thought-provoking, and entertaining musical experience.
Into the Woods explores what happens after “happily ever after,” the unforeseen consequences of getting what you wish for, and the deeper truth that every action carries weight. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish for a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife discover they are cursed by a Witch, they set out on a quest to break the spell. Though everyone’s wishes are eventually granted, the repercussions of their choices return to haunt them—with unexpected and devastating consequences.
