Sheila Kernan’s new solo exhibition, Refresh, opens Saturday August 8 from 2-4pm at Bau-Xi Vancouver, at the 3045 Granville St location !

Bau-Xi Vancouver is thrilled to present Refresh, the new solo exhibition from Canadian mixed media artist Sheila Kernan. For this new collection, the Calgary based artist continues her fascination with and love for the wild landscape of the West Coast.
Conceived as an invitation to pause and reset, Refresh considers painting as a space of visual renewal and a temporary retreat from the noise of contemporary life.

In this thought-provoking and symbol-laden body of work, McGlynn continues to transform memory and imagination, where recurring figures become symbols for larger ideas, most notably the absurdity of technology’s promise to do everything for us against the elemental truth that nothing moves without the wind. Working with a variety of expressive techniques, McGlynn creates richly layered surfaces, giving each piece a sense of history built through visible revisions, overpainting, and accumulated marks. ⁠

Bau-Xi Vancouver proudly presents Chance at Bliss, a solo exhibition by award-winning Vancouver-based photographic artist Anthony Redpath.

The exhibition transports viewers to Vancouver’s beaches, parks, and pools—places filled with summer light, vivid colour, and the familiar rhythms of West Coast leisure.

Each highly detailed photograph is meticulously constructed from 15 to more than 50 individual images. From a distance, the works form sweeping compositions of colour, texture, water, and mountains. Up close, individual gestures, relationships, and stories begin to emerge.

Bau-Xi Gallery | Dufferin is pleased to present Alive and Talking, a new exhibition by celebrated BC painter Drew Burnham.

Join us Thursday, July 9, from 5:30–7:30 pm at 1384 Dufferin Street for the opening reception and the opportunity to meet the artist.

Burnham's luminous paintings invite viewers into a profound encounter with the natural world. Created over months of careful observation and refinement, each work seeks to convey what the artist describes as the "life force" of its subject—from grasses and trees to rock and water.

"The only goal I have had... is to create an image which passes the life force of the subject over to the viewer."

In Burnham's words:

"From nuclear particles to grasses, trees, rocks, water and so on to us, the world is made. Although it may mystify us as to how beauty and sentience 'become', it is this beauty and sentience which informs the works I do.

The only goal I have had, through the countless months spent on each of these canvases, is to create an image which passes the life force of the subject over to the viewer. Time was ignored; having taken these four paintings through a lengthy period of creation, refinement, and completion. Every request I received from the forming images has been considered.

It may be a tall order, but my wish is for the viewer to be taken into the realm where their spirit resides and resonates, on a deep level, with what they are experiencing."
